Santa Ana Dermatology

You may have noticed the stark contrast between the Yelp and Google reviews for Island Dermatology (including the Santa Ana Dermatology location). Based on my experience, both can be true. With the positive reviews only reflecting the providers, not the administrative staff. The providers and back office staff (MAs, PAs) were kind and patient, they deserve real praise. Unfortunately, the front office experience felt like running a gauntlet before being "rewarded" with care. Front office interactions are curt, unapologetic, and lack basic compassion. I’m not asking for forced friendliness or scripted small talk. I’m simply asking for mutual human respect toward patients seeking medical care. I have since found another practice that is much more pleasant in how they treat their patients start to finish. I hope Santa Ana (Island) Dermatology can use this constructive criticism to explore training opportunities and reinforce that just because the healthcare industry inherently has cynicism built into it (us vs them mindset), patients are not your enemy. Introducing name tags would show that office management actually does care about accountability. That way these countless complaints about the front office can be addressed with certain employees, not just as a whole.

Alexis is the PA that I saw and she was very thorough and professional. I really enjoyed having Alexis to see and to discuss future visits as well as referrals.

The staff at the Santa Ana location were all very friendly and welcoming. I was in and out in a very sufficient, timely manner. I have seen many dermatologist over a period of 4 years and Shannon Rasmussen was the first that I was happy with. She took the time to listen and answer my questions thoroughly. Although the location is a bit far from where I live, the drive is worth it. I will definitely continue to see her.

The staff is really friendly and the doctors are awesome I love this place .

Very happy with my appointment with Dr. Kamel. Check in staff was very nice, Doctor listened without having his hand on the door knob, like he was ready to bolt out the door at a moment's notice. Check out people were very nice. Also. I will definitely go back!

Dr. Kamal is awesome! My family sees him for all our dermatology needs. I would also like to add that their office is extremely responsive. We’ve never had an issue with appointments or waiting too long. The staff are super polite too. Very pleased overall.

I should have read the review before I took my kid there. I made the appointment for my daughter and was told gotta wait nearly two months. Okay fine. We arrived at our appointment 7 minutes late. The receptionist told us that they couldn’t see us because we were late. And I told her that I didn't get any phone call, text, or emails to let us know our appointment got canceled. I politely asked if we could wait if the doctor was busy. But the receptionist insisted that they wouldn't see my daughter because we were late. So we drove all the way there with traffic then drove all the way home with traffic again. Obviously, they don't care about their patients. From the other reviews I see, I’m not the only person who had this terrible treatment. There were other patients be on time but waited over an hour. So you can’t mess up their time but they can mess up yours. DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME & ENERGY! Go somewhere else!
