Salon Lumen

I am extremely disappointed with my most recent experience at Salon Lumen. I have had Japanese Hair Straightening done at this salon 2–3 times previously with great results and no issues. I followed all aftercare instructions exactly the same way this time as I did before. However, when I returned in January for a retouch, it was immediately clear that the salon is under new management or entirely new stylists, as none of the employees were the same. I paid a $100 deposit on December 3rd and had my service done on January 3, 2026. This was a full Japanese Hair Straightening service. I followed all aftercare instructions meticulously: • Waited over 72 hours before washing (washed at ~77 hours) • Did not sweat or exercise • Slept on a satin pillowcase • Took extra care not to bend or kink my hair When I finally washed my hair on January 6, 2026, my hair was still curly and wavy. This has never happened with this service before. In previous visits, my hair dried completely straight after the first wash. This time, the service simply did not work. I contacted the salon the same day and was told I could come back and they would "fix it." Unfortunately, I scheduled this lengthy (4+ hour) service around work travel and prior commitments and do not have the time to repeat it. More importantly, I do not feel confident returning for another long chemical process when the service should have been done correctly the first time. I sent the salon photos clearly showing that the straightening failed. After sending those photos, they stopped responding entirely. Between the staff turnover, the ineffective service, and the lack of follow-up or accountability, this salon is no longer reliable for Japanese Hair Straightening. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Salon Lumen — especially for expensive chemical services where results actually matter.

Client of Salon Lumen and April since 2013 and I won’t trust anyone else with my hair. April does a fantastic job every time I come in and I’m always complemented by strangers on my color and cut. I have long thick hair and find their pricing very reasonable for the amount of hair that I have. I’ve gone from long hair to short hair and even added bangs and April knocks it out of the park each time!

First visit at this salon! And let me tell you! Very pleased with customer service and how the manage our business and opinion. Very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommended! 5stars!

I’ve always had great service here over the years. Have had my hair done by Angelica and Maria, and it turned out beautiful both times. I’m naturally warm blonde and have had my hair treated both cool and warm, with highlights, and a much needed cut. I will always get my hair done at this salon in San Antonio. The price is also very reasonable.

I cannot express how great of a job Maria did!!!! I have never felt more confident in myself and my hair- literally came out so cute. She was attentive, talkative, and excellent customer service! I felt like my hair was getting cut by a friend. Plus, the hair wash and head massage was out of this world. Thank you, Maria <3

This is a great experience that I’ve had every single time I walk in here! I have been coming here faithfully for at least three years but probably longer and I have always had a good experience and my hair looks beautiful, I look beautiful and more importantly, my stylist, April, is just superb! The best! I know because I used to go to Sergio’s, and I had to find somebody as good as they were and I have. I will continue to Get my hair done here always
