Minssam's Online Korean (MOK)

I truly can’t say enough good things about my Korean teacher. From the very first class, her patience and encouragement created a welcoming space. As an adult beginner, I started the course feeling pretty nervous, unsure if I’d be able to keep up or feel comfortable, but I was put at ease. Minssam really understands how to work with adult learners, and her thoughtful approach made all the difference. She has a good sense of pacing and teaches in a way that feels approachable. I’ve never felt embarrassed for not understanding something or for asking questions—she always makes space for that. Learning a new language is challenging, and there have definitely been times when I felt lost, but she always takes the time to explain things clearly and answer everyone’s questions. The class is engaging. I look forward to it , not just for the language learning, but because the class feels like an encouraging community.

I took a beginning level Korean class with Minssam as teacher in Spring 2025 and it was very enjoyable. The class was well run, organized and more importantly, allowed me to learn a lot in a low pressure environment. Minssam is highly skilled at teaching and explaining Korean. The group activities were fun and we were able to ask questions and get feedback during class and throughout the week via Kakaotalk. Class was a highlight of my week and I look forward to taking more classes offered by Minssam!

Minssam is a dedicated and exceptional teacher of the Korean language. If you are looking for a Korean teacher, you have found the right place. I started learning Korean as an adult recently for work. Minssam made it easy and accommodating for my schedule. She has not only begun with the basics, but also helped me understand why certain phrases are said the way they are. She has made sure my pronunciation is correct, and focuses on improvment when I make mistakes. While I am still very new to the language, all of my Korean colleagues are shocked as to how fast I have learned and how much better my pronunciation has become week after week. I have now completed two semesters with Minssam, participating in both private and group sessions. I started out feeling quite nervous, but Minssam was always incredibly patient and encouraging. Minsam’s online class has taught me so much and I’ve grown a lot in my ability to read, speak, and understand Korean while taking her classes. She has an incredible knowledge base of Korean and English grammar to help her students learn the foundations in order to build their language over time, instead of only memorizing phrases. I really appreciate MinSam’s teaching style. It’s fun, interactive, and she adjusts her lessons according to what students need. She’s also really patient. I’m pretty busy working my regular job during the weekdays, but I look forward to spending a couple of hours a week learning Korean and seeing the progress I’m making. I would highly recommend Minsam’s class for any level Korean learner. She’s great!

I have been taking introductory korean classes off an on for like 4 years. The engagement, the curriculum, and the feedback has never been better than with Minssam. Our class was on a saturday morning... and early... and I still looked forward to each week. She created a unique lesson plan that built upon the week before, with lots of repetition and speaking. I actually said a few lines (very nervously) to my Korean friends, which I have never done. I am preparing for a trip to Korea next week, and I will attending her classes!

If you've ever thought about learning Korean, sign up for this locally based online class! As long as you are willing to engage in the 1 x/week class and do some studying in between, you will absolutely learn Hangeul and build introductory speaking/understanding skills-- and you will have fun along the way! I found that especially for an online class, the varied methods to get students engaged and comfortable with the language worked really well. An unexpected bonus is that you meet and get to know other students whose main commonality seemed to be a love of Korean culture. The teacher Minssam is amazing, kind, patient, and encouraging. Highly recommend! Go for it! 😉
