My husband and I went for our first anniversary. We wanted to try something new. It will not be the last time I float! Jeff was incredibly welcoming and friendly. He showed us everything with very clear and precise instruction. The float was an incredible experience, and when we got out, there was a bottle of champagne waiting for us to help celebrate our anniversary! Everything was perfect! Cannot wait for my next visit!
I was a little hesitant at first. But I was feeling in need of a total shut down "relief" mentally and physically Having not arrived 15 minutes early like I was supposed to left me feeling a little discouraged But one of the owner was very kind and talked to me through very quickly how everything worked, etc. I actually appreciated how quickly he led me to these experiences Once I got in the Tub and experienced the float and really let go I was immediately captivated and I shortly realized after the experience how beneficial this practice could be utilized. Once I got home, I relaxed and reflected up upon the experience My wife will be giving us a try to share her experience with me as well
I had the opportunity to visit The Float Institute for the first time after hearing great reviews and benefits from some of the therapy offerings they provide. I met with the owner, Scott, and he was super helpful in explaining the benefits and procedures involved in each of the offerings. His business is extremely clean and has an amazing atmosphere that just made me relaxed as soon as I walked in the door. I started off with Contrast Therapy, which is two cycles of infrared red sauna followed by an ice bath. I thought ice baths were just something reserved for hard core cross-fit athletes, but it has tons of benefits he explained outside of general soreness such as helping with inflammation, metabolism, circulation, cognitive function, and immune system boosts. I have really bad tennis elbow, knee soreness, and hand pain probably from early onset arthritis. The red light therapy isn't the traditional sweat box sauna. It is hot, but you don't experience the intense sweat you would from a wet sauna. From there, I managed to do a few minute ice plunge on each cycle. It was a shock to say the least, but if you focus on something else besides the cold water it becomes more about mental toughness. I followed the contrast therapy up with a float, which for someone who spends all-day plugged into some type of phone or computer, it was pure heaven to have no distractions. I have never felt so relaxed in my entire life and ended up sleeping the majority of the time. It was the best sleep I have had in years! I felt so relaxed and calm after my entire visit I went home and continued to sleep the rest of the day and woke up better than ever. Thank you again to Scott and The Float Institute for the day of relaxation and pain alleviation! Anyone on the fence about trying something "strange" I urge you to give it a shot.
Just finished a salt float session and wow — what an incredible experience. The moment I slipped into the tank, it felt like the world shut off for a little while. Zero pressure, just weightless stillness. It was exactly what my mind and body needed. If you’ve been stressed, tired, overwhelmed, or just craving a deep reset… I can’t recommend it enough. I walked out feeling lighter, calmer, and a little more grounded than when I walked in. 10/10 — will definitely be floating again.
The Float Institute offers relaxation and wellness at an affordable price in Macomb. The entire building is sensory friendly with dim lighting in a quiet setting. Appointments can be made for a Fire & Ice room, including sauna and ice plunge at 50 degrees. Yoga classes at a fantastic rate for new members, reiki sessions by appointment and their main source of self care, sensory deprivation floats. I had a wonderful float experience, which always helps with chronic pain & inflammation, not to mention the elevation in meditation. Every surface was smooth and ramped over any inclines with the exception of getting into the actual float tank. Mobility challenged individuals may need to plan for assistance if required (picture posted of tank entrance.) Tank is room designed and longer than oval pod at other establishments. It is more narrow than oval pods but the larger overall size can help with claustrophobic feelings. Light in the tank appears as blue stars in the ceiling and can be turned on or off. Spa music can be turned on or off as well as the door to tank can be left open or closed. Each private room has a lock on the door, private shower with amenities as needed. Post-tank relaxation offers a secluded but not private room with complimentary water and tea on a couch or hammock chair in salt lamp charged atmosphere. Please also take time to appreciate the art made by previous clients who were inspired after their floats. Bring nothing but your stress, aches & pains, planning to leave them behind. Been going to this place for a while. I barely ever leave reviews but this place stood out because of how nice the owner is and clean and carefully prepared the rooms are. The tea room is an amazing way to reflect on your experience and usually ends up being its own form of meditation simply through reflection. Can’t recommend it enough. Just try it once and see.
Had an great first float here. Keith was the attendant and explained everything very thoroughly and made me feel at ease and welcome. The rooms were clean and they provided everything you need. It's hard to describe the experience and it will be different for everyone but I loved it and will definitely be back!
