Had a lovely experience with a Galentine’s special! Experience started with a friendly greeting from Kat at the front desk, followed with a facility tour with Eli, who met me with a delicious mocktail. He was welcoming, informative, and had a sense of humor!! The locker room was clean, relaxing and consistently attended by staff, who kept up a full supply of towels. I was greeted warmly by Magdalena for the 25 minute facial. She asked about concerns before starting the facial and we devised a strategy together. It was relaxing and gentle for a 25 minute service. Highly recommend Magdalena. There is a RELAX room, where you can rest, read or snooze after enjoying all the amenities. There are tables throughout the spa with offerings of infused water, hot tea and nut/raisin snacks should you need a little nourishment or hydration. The large whirl-pool (full pool size), sauna, steam room and cold plunge pool are available before and after services! A welcome addition to the serve!! Don’t forget a bathing suit (co-ed area). My time at the spa was a totally relaxing experience that I shared with my daughter, who invited me to join her ❤️❤️ Love you Lolo!! We are bringing Dad with us next time!
Received a 80 minute recovery massage (I’m always on my feet and workout often) from Regina, best massage I’ve had in a long time. She’s very in tune and kind. Go 30 minutes early bring a swimsuit to try the spa, steam, sauna and plunge- you won’t regret it, added bonus. Lots of spa water and snacks. Best Kohler has to offer in locker room full showers etc. Clean and friendly staff. Take advantage of the relax room after massage. Would have liked a tea option available in the relax room.
I was really looking forward to my visit to the Kohler Spa, especially the massage, given the reputation and price point. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. I paid over $300 for what ended up being the most disappointing massage I’ve ever had — and easily the most expensive. At the beginning of the session, I was asked if there were any areas I wanted her to focus on. I clearly stated my neck, shoulders, and my back in general. Despite this, my lower back was not touched at all during the entire massage. Even more frustrating, the areas I specifically requested — my neck and shoulders — were barely addressed. Instead, the majority of the session was spent lightly massaging my legs and feet, which I did not request and did not need. Much of the massage felt very light, unfocused, and ineffective. I left feeling like I didn’t receive a massage at all. The spa itself is beautiful, and the amenities are lovely. The staff I encountered were kind and welcoming. Unfortunately, the massage itself fell short, especially given the cost, and I left feeling disappointed and that the experience was not worth the price.
I went here a few weeks ago to treat myself and while the massage itself was lovely, I was left very speechless for the rest of it. The hot tub had a ring of dirt on the wall where the water meets the tub, towels were not restocked and it just overall felt gross. When I took a shower after, there were used wash cloths still inside the shower and hair where it was clear no one addressed it after the last person used it. Also the little amenities like hair brushes and towels in all the areas were not restocked. For as much money as I spent, I want to feel like I’m the first person to use the space. I won’t be going back unfortunately!
I visited this spa for the first time today and this is now my new favorite spa in the city. The Chaun previously held by this position and they are very similar except KOHLER has more space for everything. Saunas, whirlpool, relaxation lounge, all bigger and better. I was looking for a eucalyptus steam room because I’ve been sick the past week and finally getting better and felt like I needed a good steam session after. The steam room was lovely the only tiny thing is I feel like more eucalyptus could be added but overall it was still a great experience. I absolutely fell in love with the relaxation area. Spacious, clean, private, and quiet! In fact the entire facility was clean which is a huge deal for me. I also booked the winter alchemy massage for lymphatic drainage and the treatment itself was amazing and very detailed and served its purpose. My masseuse Mary was the very best. When I checked out I asked the agent to add her to my profile as my preferred masseuse. Overall, I had a great experience from checking in to the quick tour to the amenities and service. The only reason my rating is a 4 is due to the discrepancy in price on their website vs when you actually go to book the service. The treatment was listed at $280 but when I went to schedule the amount was listed at $405. I know they said price increases on weekends but that was a huge jump and still not aligned with what was priced in their menu offering. This wasn’t an issue however as I called and they honored the $280. I’m also not too keen on the no technology policy. I get not using it but Id like to be able to at least carry my phone with me in case someone is trying to reach me but we’re supposed to leave them in the lockers and their robes had no pockets probably so you can’t bring it. I would also like them to have more snack options. I came early right when they opened and hadn’t eaten yet and planned to be there until 1pm. Would have been nice to have more to snack on. Thats where The Chaun wins because you can order food from travelle and they’ll bring it down to you but they’re a hotel and restaurant and I know kohler isn’t that. Anyway, I highly recommend this place.
I had an excellent experience at this spa. It’s pricey, but worth it for the 5 star experience. The staff was friendly- Molly was fantastic at check in and checkout. The spa was clean and all around a great day. I will have to return.
Overall everyone was very friendly and kind and professional and the massage was top tier and the amenities were awesome . I do want to come again, but I do request that changes be made so that the place can feel more inclusive and welcoming of all women, especially black women. For example, it would be great to have grooming product options in the bathroom which are not only formulated or designed for white women but also for black women. As expensive as the spa is and as luxurious as the vibe is, I don’t think that’s a big ask especially in a city as diverse as Chicago. At the very least, it would be great to have brushes with bristles that are suitable for curly hair. Small changes around the spa area to make it feel more inclusive to black women would definitely make it feel like a business that welcomes and appreciates all customers and not just white customers
