H Mart

I’m just wondering if H Mart in Redmond has changed its policy and cashiers are no longer expected to help with bagging. I was checking out at Cashier 1 on Sunday the 10th around 7:48 pm, and the cashier standing there did not assist at all. I was loading four bags of groceries by myself, and she didn’t even look at me or acknowledge me. She was standing there looking elsewhere, almost as if I didn’t exist. I understand everyone gets busy or tired, but a little awareness or basic assistance would have been appreciated. I’m genuinely asking if this is now self-service, so customers know what to expect going forward.

Probably my favorite hmart. I have been living in Korea for 4 years and when I crave for Korean food-this is my go-to place. My favorite section is deli of course. Overall this hmart is , well-stocked, with wide isles, comfortable to navigate. It is and a go-to spot for not only for Korean but broader Asian groceries in the Eastside. I have found Ukrainian cheese and sweets here too- Rochen. They also have a great selection of fresh produce, seafood, marinated meats, and usually very good prices for seasonal fruit. It’s mango time currently. I always get tea here, sauces (red spicy chilly sauce), tofu, fruits and veggies, they have a great variety of mushrooms! Kimchi is the best both packaged and shop made.

Standard Korean store with all the foodies we wanted. But the standout for us is the prepared food/restaurant inside the store. They offers all kinds of treats like Korean fried chicken, bulgogi pork and beef rice bowls. Very generous portions and reasonable prices. With so many soups selection too.

H Mart, inside of Redmond is exactly what the area needed. I visited on the opening day, and for a place that just opened. I thought it was incredibly well stocked, really organized, and the produce was looking extremely fresh. I will be visiting again, I will be purchasing some hard to find items, and I will continue to support H Mart in this area. I imagine that as they stay open, everything will continue to get smoother. I noticed that there was quite a bit of diversity amongst the employees there, and it seemed like a few different languages being spoken. Overall well organized though. I hope the bakery and hot foods area opens soon. When I visited on opening day, I didn’t appear to be fully running yet.

I have been coming to this H-Mart since it opened a year ago. Great place to park and shop. My only poor experience was yesterday when I purchased a tuna toro sashimi. Half the sashimi had tough skin gankawa made them inedible. First time experiencing such sashimi, so I guess it's the worst sashimi in my life so far. I did not give a low grade, since I believe this is just a one-off. Hope H-Mark can correct this and not make another customer suffer.

They sold us an expired item, but refused the return just because we didn’t have a receipt. Interesting how Home Depot (and many other stores) can only process returns with card payments — until, suddenly, they can do it with just "one scan and one card insertion." Isn’t that even more ridiculous? We weren’t fighting over $7.16 — we were asking for basic fairness and our rights as customers. We didn’t want an expired product or a replacement we don’t want, just the return we were entitled to. Thanks to the two staff members who eventually helped us complete the return. As for the earlier "not returnable without receipt" gentleman — maybe named Paul — perhaps a bit of customer service training is in order. Pics attached, feel free to check 🙂
