Amazing experience! The restaurant is extremely clean and has a calm, Japanese-style atmosphere. The service is outstanding—staff are super friendly, efficient, and attentive. The food comes out incredibly fast and is always fresh. This location offers a 90-minute all-you-can-eat option, and everything is served quickly without feeling rushed. Great service, great food, and a smooth dining experience from start to finish. Highly recommend!
Everything is fantastic. The eel is near-perfect (I wish it was a touch crispier). The seaweed salad and Shinya salad are so satisfying and fresh. Great flavor. I love how late they are open and how consistent the quality and freshness of the food is. I only have 2 minor complaints, why are the water cups so small? They are like 6oz cups and with how busy the place is, you end up wanting to drain the cup that gets filled and have them refill it once more before they leave to go help another table 😂 just give us standard 16oz cups. So weird and inefficient. Also, PLEASE include all of the menu options that your Seattle location offers. They are undeniably tasty and will definitely sell. The Tsukune Meatball 🥹the Dry Aged beef, the Wagyu Burger, the Yaki-Niku fries etc. I'm sorry to say but the Seattle location has the better/more extensive menu. Much love and many thanks to the Bellevue location and everyone who works there. You guys kick ass.
Came here with my boyfriend at 4:30-5pm on a Wednesday, was pretty empty! I ordered the Gekikara Ramen and my boyfriend ordered the Beef Udon. We also ordered some small eats (karaage, onigiris, tofu) and skewers. I enjoyed our noodles the most, especially mine. I'm not sure if other people would enjoy it as much because it wasn't what I was expecting. The part I really enjoyed was how savory the minced meat was; the entire dish was meaty, very salty and savory. It was also really spicy for a Japanese dish. I really liked it. I liked our skewers second most after the noodles and the chicken skewers the most out of the skewers. The shrooms were good. The beef was a bit chewy. We also ordered peach green tea and lychee green tea and they were surprisingly GOOD! Like on par with top boba tea places. They were also not sugar bombs despite not really having sugar adjustable options - which we really liked, since we like our boba tea less sweet. AAA+ for the fruit tea would definitely order again and always. The service was also great; our server was really attentive and answered all of our questions despite being busy. Overall, this place has great food and service for a fair price point. Would come back again!
I am Japanese and regularly travel between the U.S. and Japan every six months. Unfortunately, my experience at this Shinya Shokudo was extremely disappointing. We ordered three dishes: karaage (Japanese fried chicken), tonkatsu, and fried octopus. The karaage was strangely covered in curry powder. Previously, I had karaage at another Shinya Shokudo near the airport, and it was juicy, flavorful, and something I genuinely wanted to eat again. This time, however, after just one bite, I felt so disappointed that I wanted to complain to the staff. The tonkatsu itself was not terrible, but the sauce had a faint barbecue flavor, which is unusual. When I have ordered tonkatsu at other Japanese restaurants, it has never tasted like that. Also, instead of the usual shredded cabbage, it came with roughly chopped square pieces of lettuce, which felt careless and inauthentic. The fried octopus normally comes with mayonnaise on the side, but here it was served with spicy mayo poured heavily over the top. It was not only different from what is typical, but overwhelming and unnecessary. It honestly made me wonder whether the kitchen staff have ever experienced authentic Japanese food. When a restaurant advertises itself as serving Japanese cuisine, presenting dishes like these feels misleading and, as a Japanese customer, somewhat disrespectful. Finally, the dessert dango was topped with ground sesame, which looked different from the photo shown on the menu. Overall, this visit overturned my expectations in the worst possible way. I will not be returning. However, I hope this review serves as constructive feedback for the owner and kitchen staff.
Very nice ambience. The service was friendly and the food came out quickly. We liked the shrimp and the waygu especially! The accompanying sauce is flavorful. What’s better than meat on a stick and unlimited miso refills 😃
I absolutely love this place!! The music is really good, it has a Japanese "bar" feel with the decorations, the staff is super nice and helpful, and the food is amazing! I've been here multiple times and there isn't anything that I don't like. The prices are a little higher but no worse than some of the fast food places nearby. Recommend checking this place out!
We had a party of 6. 1 was 9, 1 was 11. I didn’t mind paying for 5 adults plus 1 child. But to be charged extra because we left some rice and salad was uncalled for… this was our fourth visit and our last. Buyer beware.
