Customer Reviews
Jong Ka Jib has a rating of 4.5 out of 5 based on over 516 reviews on Google
My first time trying this restaurant. For the most part, the food was pretty good, the service was decent, and the restaurant is nicely decorated. Overall Ratings Atmosphere - 4/5 Service - 3/5 Food - 4/5 Parking - Private Parking Lot Atmosphere - The restaurant gives off a vibe of a place that used to be a go to spot but has since been outpaced by other Korean restaurants in the area. While it is very nicely decorated, when we first walked in it felt a bit quiet and not as lively or vibrant as some of the other Korean spots nearby. Service - The staff is friendly and the service is sufficient. What We Ordered - Mung Bean Pancake - which was pretty good Galbi BBQ Beef Ribs - which were not as good as some competitors in the area, for example the beef ribs from Dubu have much better flavor Seafood Tofu Stew - which was very good Final Thoughts - In terms of food, my favorite dish by far was the tofu stew, which I was told is what they are known for. Everything else ranged from okay to good. I would come back to try other items, but personally I feel there are stronger options in the same area.
The soft tofu stew here is AMAZING. Honestly feels like a soft tofu specialty spot. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It comes with stone pot rice, and you even get crispy rice at the end. I had oyster soft tofu stew AND The seasoning isn’t too heavy, super clean and comforting flavors.✨ Plz If you like sundubu, this place is a must-try
The soon du-bu is so soothing and yummy 🍲 Lots of veggie-friendly options on their menu - they’ve got a whole page+ for vegetarians. I would skip the pancake next time, but the sides are amazing and they have great service. Free private parking lot too! I love the peaceful ambiance. This is a great spot for a comfort meal in the winter ❄️
My husband and I are never disappointed with their food nor services. Our last visit we dine in for our lunch, surprisingly it was empty around 1pm. I thought I forgot to update myself on their business hours. The waiter remembered us and quickly assisted us to a table. Food came out quick and delicious. We ordered their pancake, oyster soft tofu soup, and a bulgogi rice. No complaints. Definitely will return again, especially this is where my husband and I ate dinner on our first date.
The best soft tofu soup in the Philadelphia area. I always order the seafood tofu soup medium spicy. Their banchan is the best I've ever had! Really tasty and fresh! Their rice is cooked in a stone pot, which is very rare in other Korean restaurants. I always feel very satisfied after eating it! Highly recommended!
Jong ka job has been a Philly Korean food icon for over 30 years. I had my first date with my wife here and their food is still the consistent great taste and quality. I know that there are other fancy places for soon dubu but this place still has it. There ban Chan is still the same after all these years. The spicy cucumbers, the pickled radish, the marinated bean sprouts and their seaweed salad is still the best. Super clean and relaxed atmosphere
Had been going here for many years, but unfortunately its gone downhill in my opinion. We always order the same things. Not sure if the chef changed or what. the last 2 times left me disappointed, and i wont be going back. Service is almost non-existent (and it wasnt crowded). The pancake was not crispy enough and the ribs were overcooked and chewy. But the real deal breaker is the tofu soup. The last time here, I ordered medium spicy (like i always did) and my friend's was spicy. We agreed that mine was as hot as hers. I ate it anyway - sweating. Today we went again and he tells me to get mild spicy instead, not medium. Unfortunately it was bland and had almost no heat at all. After finally locating the waiter, instead of bringing me spice, they took my soup in the back for a while. Which would have been fine, but it came back bright red and even hotter than my friend's spicy. This time it was so spicy I literally couldn't eat it. .My friend agreed with me after we had taste tested each others. I hunted him down again to let him know its so hot i cant eat it. His response is the reason for this written review. The guy rolled his eyes at me and said "no, you're wrong". He said thats how its supposed to be and walked away, leaving it on the table. When we got the bill it was on therel!!! The uneaten screaming hot tofu soup sitting on the table. Once again I get the eye roll. This waiter/host was unbelievably rude and arrogant. I can't remember ever being this disrespected in a restaurant before. I was still hungry when i left. Will be looking for another Korean place next time.
