Bonchon Petaluma - N McDowell Blvd

This was my first time every trying Bonchon. I was impressed with how crunchy the chicken was, the soy garlic chicken was my favorite. I wish the Korean corn dog and portions were bigger, but the food was still good. Definitely coming back.

My first time here and I enjoyed everything I had. The potstickers with the Soy Garlic sauce??!! So good. The donuts? Don’t get them because you will turn around and get more immediately. But the reason I wanted to review was the staff. They were happy to help, friendly, and patient with me when I didn’t know what to order. I was there at 7:30pm 2/4. I didn’t catch any names, but the next time I am in I hope to get the same folks.

I've heard mixed things about this place. I decided to stop by and try a variety of different items to see for myself. Unfortunately, I was left looking for more. Yes, the food came out hot and fresh. Chicken was indeed crunchy. Fries were crispy. Though flavor was lacking all around and quite honestly misses the Korean mark by a longshot. Positive: The donut is on point. But I can't say that's enough for a return.

Customer service was wonderful, cashiers was friendly and on both occasions I stopped by. They asked how I found out about the place, they helped me with learning the menu and figuring out which style I would enjoy. I had the fried spicy-chicken sandwich with coleslaw and fries, with the spicy sauce that was very tasty! Probably one of the best chicken sandwich I've had in awhile. I didn't need a drink to enjoy the heat, but it was strong enough to make my head sweat. I will look forward to trying out their other meals.

The food was Ok but expensive for the serving size and because this is essentially a fast food place. They missed one of our meals despite reading it back to them twice. We ended up sharing one of the other three meals rather than paying another $15-20. The "atmosphere" if you can call it that was about one step up from a fast-food burger joint. I enjoy Korean food but I won't be coming here again.

We’ve visited 4 times since opening and are so glad there’s another place to get Korean fried chicken in Petaluma! So far, the wings and drumsticks have always been delicious, and the donuts and fries are great. The staff are also friendly and wait times have gone done since they first opened. We’ll definitely keep coming back! However, other menu items aside from the wings and drumsticks have been hit or miss. The one time we got chicken strips they were very, very tough. When we got the bonchon bowl it came without bibimbap sauce, and the chicken katsu came without katsu sauce or mayo (all of which were listed on the menu). Since they’re newly open it’s possible things will improve over time!

After coming back a year later, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Bonchon Petaluma has improved their food quite a lot. The dishes are now really delicious—the fried chicken is crispy, and the sauce is evenly coated. They’ve also added new items like beef stir-fried udon and salad. I really like it and will definitely be coming back regularly.
