Morimoto Asia Napa

It's so exciting that there are two Morimoto restaurants in downtown Napa. I'm allergic to many foods on the Morimoto menu, but the Morimoto Asia menu had many more options for me. We shared three dishes: sizzling sisig, szechuan green beans, crispy prawns. All were outstanding. Service was great. Can't wait to go back! Oh and cocktails were tasty! I had the casual encounter!

My friend and I went here for lunch around 3:15 PM for their happy hour, which was great: a $7 glass of Chardonnay, which was delicious. We shared two very delicious dishes. More than we could finish and reasonably priced. We sat outside and could see the river and the gondolas going by, and our server was friendly and attentive. I can't wait to go back!

It was our first time coming in the Morimoto Asia Napa, we went to their other sister facility just 2 mins away walk. But, decided to go here instead due to the wait time and overwhelming crowd during Saturday evening. We were greeted promptly by the host and got our seat outside with a river view. Everything went great, our server "Melyna" was very helpful and accommodating with everything we needed. Although the down-side of seating outside the patio is the loudness of the cars since there was an event called "cruise night". Cars muffler was too loud but it did not ruin our whole experience. Also there are alot of beverage choices for wine, sake, cocktails lover.

Friendly staff. Dim lights atmosphere. Menu are quite expensive. We ordered ordered shrimp eggrolls. Came in 3 small flat rolls. It tasted ok but can't really taste the shrimp. We ordered that hotpot with beef for protein. When it came, it had more on veggies than the beef. The 2 types of broth were good enough. Then, lastly, we had that garlic shrimp. That one is good, mild on spiciness, had few soft garlic. Shrimps were not overcooked. Tender and easy to peel. Overall, we were just ok with this restaurant.

I was excited to visit a Morimoto restaurant but was definitely disappointed. My meal was fairly decent (Thai Basil Rice substituted with shrimp vs beef) but wife’s meal and another guest with our party had their Signature Curry Ramen dish which was luke warm at best and they hardly touched their meal. To my surprise, there was no awareness of the dislike for the dish on the servers part when they collected the dishes almost untouched to ask if everything was ok with their meals. We certainly didn’t get an elevated dining experience vibe and I would put this restaurant slightly above a PF Chang’s (with no disregard intended to PF Chang’s).

Food was tasty. One of my friends ordered the lobster dish. It was $75. The portion was good for the price. We sat at the bar and received great service from the bar staff. The scallion pancake was not a pancake it looked like a spring roll.
