I learned I cannot cook my own food 🤪 Otherwise everything was fantastic! Castillo was our server and he was friendly and very attentive. He made suggestions about food and everything was great. 😋 the BEST of the best that night was the chocolate dessert! Wow, it was a FANTASTIC. A warm soft cake with a great chocolate flavor and ooey gooey chocolate sauce.. yummy! Go check everything out and ask for Castillo - best server!
This was my first time at Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ. The food was pretty good and comparable to other Japanese & Korean BBQ restaurants. We selected the premium option from the "all you can eat" menu. The meats are well seasoned. Warning! the spicy shrimp is very spicy but absolutely delicious. I loved the kimchi and "addictive cucumber". The strawberry mojito is delicious. We needed handicapped accessible seating for our Mom and they were accommodating. The gentleman at the front was friendly and helpful, the restaurant and restroom was clean. We initially thought the restaurant service was impossibly slow but it was just our server Santiago. It took a long time to take our initial order and he never came back to check on us. Even my mother commented that Santiago seemed like he didn’t want to serve us. We weren’t demanding or difficult Santiago just didn’t seem to want to wait on us. We tried to wave him down several times but he wouldn’t even look in our direction. Thankfully there was a shift change and we got a new server, Manuel. Manual was fantastic, he was friendly and patient, he provided significantly superior service, he constantly checked on us to see if we needed anything, he delivered our orders quickly and was always nearby. If any of our orders were delayed he would let us know. I will return to Gyu-Kaku because of Manual. Santiago almost cost you a repeat customer.
This is a favorite with my family. My daughters love the steamed dumplings, the fried bacon chips, and the spring rolls. Their favorite meat is the bistro hanger steak. I enjoy their Gyu-Kaku Salad, the dressing is delicious. Also, their steak bimbibap rice and their lychee martinis. Our least favorite appetizer is the Volcano Tuna Roll. Something about warm mushy tuna is not for us. Lastly, the superb service from Giessi is always the best. He treats us like visiting friends and that is truly always a great touch.
The lunch deal is the best price you'll get here. Extremely good quality meat and taste amazing. The reason why I'm giving it 3 stars is the service was awful, never came to us, never got refills, food took forever despite it being not packed and took over 10 minutes to wave the server down to fix our grill. Another issue is pricing is expensive for anything else. Four small slices of pork belly was 10$, tasted great but not worth the price at all. I'd come again for the lunch but wouldn't touch anything else especially if the service was that lackluster.
I ordered food to go and I was really surprised by the packaging. They put the s'mores in a plastic bag instead of a small container. The graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallow were smashed together and messy by the time I got home. For a to-go order, this really isn’t practical. A simple container would’ve kept everything neat and made the experience much better.
I’ve been coming to this restaurant for 4 years, it’s always amazing. Giessi was an incredible server and truly made our dining experience stand out. From the moment we sat down, they were attentive, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the menu. They gave great recommendations, explained everything clearly, and made sure our grill was always set up properly. The atmosphere at Gyu-Kaku is always great — everyone is friendly, welcoming, and the vibe is on point. The music is always good, which just adds to the overall experience and makes it even more enjoyable. Between the great food, the fun atmosphere, and Giessi’s outstanding service, it’s hard not to have a good time here. Honestly, if you don’t like it here… that’s on you. We’ll definitely be back and hope to have Giessi as our server again!
Amazing place! Good food and great staff. The all you can eat option was a great choice and well worth the price. Shout out to Dean, he was a great server and gave very good suggestions.
