Been looking for this place since they had to vacate their location under the big tree on Keeaumoku St to make room for The Plaza at Keeaumoku. Glad to find them thriving in a new location very close to where they were before.
I'm glad we found this place. They use fresh ingredients. Food is not too salty and seasoned perfectly. Clean store and good customer service. Overall, this will be my go-to Korean side dish place.
I am Korean, and was looking for some good kimchi. I was told h Mart's kimchi is okay but banton House is best. So I went there and was pleasantly surprised at some of the offerings they had. This is not a sit-in restaurant. It's simply just a grab-and-go grocer. All different kinds of Korean side dishes and wonderful kimchi. The kimchi is amazing and i would recommend it. Parking is a little tight. The owner is super sweet. Lot of Korean people shop here so that means it's authentic and it's good. They sell large quantities of kimchi in a plastic bag so be prepared, you need a container to put it in.
I feel sorry that I have to make this review, but I broke a tooth because there was a stone in their seaweed....
I really would hope this could be my spot for all my banchan needs but after trying a bunch that I took home, unfortunately I don't think it can be... I've had better kimchi bought from other places. Their kimchi here lacked depth and umami. I don't make kimchi so I can't tell what's missing but it's just not there. Their bean sprouts don't taste savory either, maybe lacking some sesame oil, and it's mostly just salty flavor that I picked up. I've tried 2-3 more other banchans. All just OK. The only one that I liked was the seaweed salad with a good balance of saltiness, tanginess and sweetness. The staff were friendly and it seemed like things were made fresh in the morning. He was bringing out some japchae from the kitchen when I was there. Maybe I went on a wrong day? Maybe I picked the wrong items? I wish I could find more banchans I like from banchan house.
Walk into the small shop that's full of so many choices. Best kimchi I've had to this day, besides my wife's dad's kimchi. Meat jun is absolutely delicious. Can't stop eating it, even when my stomach is about to burst. Pagimchi has been great. Got the mandu today to theow in some deokguk. A little saltier than our own, but massive and VERY tasty. Service was excellent all 3 times. I sliced my finger on the edge of the kimchi container, and the man rushed to get me a Bandaid immediately. Always so nice to us, and remembers us whenever we come in since the first time.
Everything is delicious. (I've tried almost everything). Price is on point. If you try to go anywhere else, the price is either doubled or the quantity is half of what you get from this place. The side dishes are very fresh. When I first came here when it opened, I was slightly disappointed but now, this is the only place I shop at for banchan. Price: 5/5 best in town
