Customer Reviews
Gyu-Kaku Greensboro has a rating of 4.2 out of 5 based on over 444 reviews on Google
The meat was good, but the service left little to be desired. I ordered a sparkling wine but it was flat, had probably been open for a few days. Our server visited our table three times in the 90 minutes we had. The food took 20-25 minutes to come after we ordered. There’s a gyu kaku in Iwakuni Japan, this is not a good American alternative. I’d recommend going to Kpot near four seasons instead!
Gyu-Kaku never disappoints. The quality of the meats, the flavor, and the overall experience make it worth every visit. Cooking at the table adds to the atmosphere, and the service is always attentive without being overbearing. Great spot for dinner when you want something interactive and elevated.
My friend and I came here to try it for the first time. We ended up trying several small plates and sharing them. They were all delicious. We started with the Mango tango which was very refreshing and the Mangoes on top were frozen so by the end of the drink they thawed to snack on. We got the Miso soup, Spicy Tuna Volcano, Spicy addicting cucumber, cheese corn butter, fried calamari and black pepper wings. Our favorites were the cucumber and calamari. The only one we didn’t like was the Tuna. The cost of everything was very reasonable and our waitress was great.
Food was amazing! My fiancé and I did the basic all you can eat we both got our fill and moneys worth and then some! Service was a little on the slow side but in my option in gives time for your rounds to kinda settle so your not over indulging to quick. Out server Nathan was super friendly and helpful, offering great recommendations and always checking on us. Give that guy a raise
Beef bowl subpar, barely any beef for $14.00, fried rice was super greasy, order comes with spicy cucumbers, side salad and miso. Didn't care for miso and salad was probably above average. I snap shot the picture on website vs what I received.
I’ve been to this Gyu-Kaku location at least 10 times since it opened, always in groups of 4–6 friends. We even got to know the owner. But this past Saturday left us deeply disappointed: we found a fly 🪰 in our soup. The staff’s initial response? A 5% discount. That’s right—5% for serving soup with a fly in it. We were stunned. That doesn’t even cover the minimum tip. When we asked to speak to the owner, he launched into a long justification about how a bowl of soup isn’t worth much, that it’s a buffet so we should be satisfied with 5%, and said, "I have no problem eating a fly myself." He even told us not to make a scene because we were hurting his business, and that he "didn’t need our table anyway." After pushing back, we got the discount increased to 20%, but the entire exchange was rude and dismissive. And unfortunately, this wasn’t the first time we’ve had issues here. Service for our table was often noticeably slower than others, and portion sizes looked smaller. On a previous visit, the same owner told me—a young Asian woman—that studying was pointless, and that the only way I could secure immigration status here was by marrying a rich man over 40. Completely inappropriate and demeaning. We kept quiet in the past, but after this latest incident, it feels important to speak up. The food might be fine, but don’t expect accountability, basic respect, or fair treatment here.
The place is super cute and the service is great. Now we feel like we're in a refrigerator: the cold air was too strong and unnecessary (it wasn't even hot outside). We left really quickly to avoid getting sick. We chose to try the small dishes instead of the Japanese barbecue and we didn't particularly like the food. Except for the spicy tuna volcano and the shrimp with pepper and mayonnaise, the rest really tasted either too spicy or didn't go well together. For example, the Gyu sushi, which is sushi with meat, doesn't make sense. You try to eat it with the meat, but it falls apart, the meat is big and difficult to break up in your mouth (I had to ask for a fork and knife because I couldn't eat it).
