"Disappointing experience — I really tried to give them a chance." I usually don’t like leaving bad reviews, and I actually waited about a month to see if I’d move on from this experience — but honestly, I still can’t forget how bad it was. I would give them minus stars if I could. First, the kimchi fried rice was not fried rice at all. It was more like steamed, soggy rice soaked in kimchi juice with barely any actual kimchi in it. Just unpleasant. Then, the grill situation was even worse. The new grill design burns all the marinated meats almost instantly, and when I asked for a grill change (like every other KBBQ place does), I was told they don’t change grills anymore due to "new policy." Instead, they gave me a piece of radish (shown in the picture) to clean the grill. And apparently, the customers are expected to do it — not the servers. Sorry, but when I go to a restaurant, I don’t expect to be scrubbing my own grill. I was literally scrubbing so hard and went through 3 radishes that I had a 현타 moment wondering why I paid to do this. Ironically, the non-grill menu items were the only decent part of the meal — the katsu and hoddeok were okay, but that’s not what you go to Korean BBQ for. Overall, just a really disappointing experience. Between the burnt meat, the DIY grill cleaning, and the sad "fried" rice, I definitely won’t be coming back.

This was my first time visiting Gen at the new location and unfortunately, the service was terrible from start to finish. When we arrived, there was no one at the hostess stand. We waited about 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged us, and the group ahead of us actually left after waiting too long. It took another 10 minutes before we were finally seated. Once seated, our server explained the menu and took our drink order. My boyfriend’s beer came out quickly, but my drink never did because they were out of an ingredient. I ordered a second drink instead, and later they came back to tell me they were out of that one too. We ordered our meats and an order of mandu (dumplings), but the mandu never came out till about 30 minutes later it was the first thing we ordered as our appetizer, and only two of the meats we ordered were ever served. We also ordered vegetables with our first round, which never came at all. When we placed a second meat order, it took around 30 minutes, and during that time no one checked on us. The grill had completely cooled off, and no one ever came to replace or relight it. By the time the next set of meats finally came, we still didn’t have a working grill or a server stopping by. Needless to say it was the worst experience for my boyfriends first time having kbbq. What makes it worse is that it was a very slow Friday night — there weren’t many tables in the restaurant, so there really wasn’t any excuse for such poor service. Overall, the food we did get was decent, but the lack of attention, organization, and follow-up completely ruined the experience. It’s disappointing, because I was looking forward to trying this location, but the service definitely needs serious improvement. I could’ve took my $140 else where and had a better dinner.

Ezekiel was an outstanding waiter! He was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming from start to finish. He made sure we were taken care of without ever being intrusive and had a great attitude the entire time. His service really made our experience enjoyable, and we truly appreciated how well he treated us. Highly recommend asking for Ezekiel if you dine here!
