Every single dish we got was incredible. Wait staff might be a little shy with English. Just go up to the side counter to order. They’re very nice folks 🙂 Most of the names of the dishes escape me but I’ve provided photos of our meal. The soup - light comforting, and nice aroma of roasted peppers. The dumplings - amazing gamy red meat aroma. Filled with meat and onions. Works great with the sour cream and dill. The baked dumplings - wow. Beefy, buttery, and surprisingly soft. Plov - amazing. Would be curious to know what the seasoning was. Excited to try it with the lamb. Assorted breads - light and fluffy. Great to soak up any extra soup, sauces, and oils. Also worth mentioning, the black tea on the steam warmer in the corner is delicious. Can’t wait to come back and try more next time we’re in town!
While the food was absolutely delicious—particularly the Lagman with its stretchy noodle texture and the rich and soupy Manty—the service left much to be desired. The servers seemed disengaged and were not the most hospitable. The restaurant felt a bit unattended, with dirty dishes left on several tables throughout my meal.
One of the best Central Asian food that is cooked by the same Chef over last 7 years i have been visiting this place. The prices are very friendly comparing to others. This is authentic CAFE not your fancy restaurant they have the best Shashlyk (kebab) the atmosphere got better. This is a family owned and the only location. Homemade yogurt drinks, organic juice (Kompot) and TANDYR SAMSA!
Great quick service . Delicious food. We will be definitely be back. Some things to improve . Kuyrdak was a bit too salty. Achichuk needs more time marinating. Samsa is okay but big I liked how big and generous portions size were .Pirozhki were so yum.
Note that when you first enter, you need to go close to the back and order nearby the kitchen. Its not the easiest to order in English, so just bring a menu along and point. This food is legit: their lamb is cooked so incredibly well - I'm not sure if I've had lamb at a restaurant as good as this! Their plov is also flavored well with spices. Their honey cake is also a great dessert that's light and perfectly sweet. Would highly recommend!
If you would like to taste homemade authentic Central Asian food this place is great for that. Everything you try at Bai Cafe have the own taste, starting with homemade bread(everything you order coming with fresh made bread) and finishing with unusual drinks.... My favorite spot to get delicious soups (Shorpo - lamb soup with potatoes, onion and carrots) and pastries like Samsa with chicken or beef whatever you want, I bet you like it... and finally they working until 3 am 😉😉😉
I was pleasantly surprised to find a place where I could get some good homestyle Russian food in Chicago. The food was amazing, and the service was great. It does help if you speak Russian or Khyrgiz language when ordering. Everything tasted so fresh, and there was a great selection on the menu. Please try the soups if you go. Shashlik (Russian-style kabobs) is always a safe bet. Don’t be afraid to order new things because everything is delicious and well made here. No complaints... new favorite spot that reminds me of home.
