After being ignored at another local restaurant our party of four came to Ami late and hungry. Immediately seated with drinks, salad, and Miso soup. Ordered bento boxes (which are huge and a great value) and sushi which arrived quickly. Outstanding experience. Huge menu.

We both ordered food and we also mentioned one of our food would be shared which means we want two empty bowls. But the waitress just conceded my friend’s food!! Incredible! So we spent other forty minutes to wait for her food!! And the speed of serving is really low!! If you are in a hurry then don’t come. I’ve heard lots of people recommend here but here is not that much of my expectation.

The first time I ate here was two years ago, and I remember thinking the ribs were absolutely delicious. My impression of this restaurant has always been very positive since then—until today. My husband and I came here for lunch and had a very disappointing experience. First, the miso soup served before the meal had a strange taste, almost like dishwater. The dishes arrived fairly quickly. My husband ordered ramen, while I went for the regular Combo F, which includes my favorite tempura shrimp and ribs, along with a sashimi platter. The sashimi was extremely unfresh and had a very unpleasant texture. The flavor of the rib sauce was good, but the meat was so tough that I had to eat an entire piece in one go because I couldn’t chew it properly. The ramen was mediocre at best. Overall, I would rate the food a 6/10. Things got worse in the afternoon. Around 4 PM, I began experiencing sharp stomach pains and a strong urge to vomit. I had to stop working and rest for two hours, but by 6:30 PM, I still felt awful and ended up vomiting twice in the bathroom. Only after throwing up did I feel some relief. My husband also experienced diarrhea around 9 PM. Aboulutely not recommend!!!

Went for my friend’s birthday (group of 5) Ami has the best sushi in town. There’s a lot of variety and it’s made well. I try to get different things every time I go, my favorite ones are Crazy Horse, Salmon Avalanche, and Lion King. Great Miso Soup and salad. Ramen is a little neutral so it’s great for someone who doesn’t like spicy. Even if you don’t enjoy sushi, there have other options. It’s a popular dinner spot but they have seating in the basement for larger groups. Our server Cameron was awesome and food came out very quick.

Went to Ami for the first time ever on the 1st! 🙂 Our meal at Ami started out with a salad and miso soup. Both were delicious! We were seated quickly and didn’t have to wait long to order or receive what we had ordered. The staff was kind and professional. We ordered the Sushi lovers, super OMG sushi, hot sake, and we each ordered bibimbap. The sushi here was great, I loved the presentation of the Super OMG sushi especially. The hot sake was necessary after a cold day. I enjoyed most of the bibimbap I ordered, however the spicy squid was a bit tough. My partner ordered the spicy pork bibimbap though and had no complaints! 🙂 Overall, we had a great time and will definitely be back. Edit 5/9/24: we’ve been back several times since i originally wrote this review and Ami has become one of my favorite restaurants in Bloomington. I had the Nabeyaki Udon yesterday and it was so good. Love this place and it’s a great place for a date night. 🫶

We ordered the Shrimp Dumplings as an appetizer. I ordered the Mountain as an appetizer and the Chicken Katsu Crunch to go. My partner ordered a Dragon Roll and the Mountain as their entrees, and another Dragon Roll to go Everything was exquisite, the flavors were amazing, and the service/atmosphere only heighten the experience of dining here. Although our bill ended up nearing $100, it was well worth it for the quality of food!

I think I have a new fav Japanese /Korean restaurant in the area! The food is amazing -super fresh and tastes fantastic. I was impressed by the bibimbap in a hot stone bowl - looks and tastes amazing 🤩 The salmon scone roll is one of the best I’ve ever had, and Alaska is also fresh and yummy. My partner got Udon soup with tempura and was happy too. In a nutshell, highly recommended!
