Have taken several art classes and a culinary class here. The facility is very good. The instructors in the last several years have been excellent. In addition to the class time, Fridays have open art room time so you can put your work on an easel and paint in a friendly group with others. They just got new easels, very nice, and the carts to hold your materials next to the easels are terrific. The art rooms have nice big north windows. You can store your wet work in a Cubbie in between classes. The kitchen for the culinary classes is well equipped. The instructors are great. Bring a bottle of wine and participate as much as you like. You will leave with recipes and good how-to instruction. This is a relaxed social time, too. I have found the people in my classes to be warm and kind. All levels of artists (and cooks) are welcome and made comfortable. You can’t go wrong; this is a wonderful community asset.
Went for a hands-on cooking class. Phenomenal! Hostess and culinary diva Jamelah was great! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Great venue for this to take place in. I am definitely interested in finding other opportunities and reasons to attend Mark Arts!
The Mark Arts venue was a perfect location to premiere our documentary film. We used the Great Hall for the video screening and the Main Gallery for displays and refreshments. The staff was very helpful in the planning, set up and support of our event. We had a wonderful evening!
The Holiday Tables annual tradition hosted by Designing Women to benefit Mark Arts is such a special event! The decorated holiday tables are fabulous and the atmosphere, complete with LIVE pianist, is a joyful touch. Remember to visit the bake sale, vendor booths, and vote on your favorite table. My vote in 2021 was the 🇺🇸"I’ll Be Home For Christmas" 🇺🇸table scape, buffet, and tree! 🇺🇸 We hope our reviews give you an idea of what it is like to live, work, and play in Wichita Kansas!
Beautiful building, wonderful exhibits and a broad view of fine art. My first time here was for the grand opening where we not only got to see a varied display of material art throughout the building, but were also treated to the art of dancers performing live for the attendees. I've noticed a few reviews bemoaning the lack of "child friendly" exhibits. If by child friendly they actually mean something your ill-behaved child can rub their sticky hands all over and act out, then no, this is not for you. If you mean edifying works of art that a well behaved child being minded and tended to by respectful parents, then this place is packed full. Enjoy responsibly!
Great place to experience the Arts or learn about the Arts. Lots of times when they have events there's live music and everyone has a wonderful time. No dress code just come as you are and enjoy meeting new people and try something new.
Have done some painting nights and a cooking night here. The painting nights are fun but not extremely guided. However it is relaxing and the materials are all ready for you. The cooking class was an experience and although I definitely appreciate the effort, it was rather chaotic. The person running the class was wanting the class to make like five to ten different things total and you could pick which dishes you wanted to make (but no duplicates). Someone else chose the same dish as my husband and I so we therefore could not make it. We had to just settle for making a dessert which really was not what I paid $60 apiece for - to essentially just use a mixer. The food was good at the end but I did not feel like I learned anything. The class was big and it was honestly kind of stressful to me. I envisioned we could each get to make the same thing, have all the ingredients ready and waiting at our places in an orderly systematic way to ensure we all get an equal opportunity and experience. What we got was a bit of a disorganized evening. Again, the food was good at the end and the instructor and assistants were very nice. But I think I need a bit more structure. This might just be a personal preference.
