I recently took the Basic 2 Portuguese class at ILI, DC. From beginning to end the class exceeded my expectations. Ana Melo, the instructor, was excellent! She always made me feel part of the group even though I took the class entirely online. After just 10 weeks of class I started to feel more confident in my listening and speaking skills, especially at work where I interact with many Brazilian students. I'm looking forward to taking the next level to continue my progress.

When I first started studying, I was a quiet and introverted person because I was not confident in using the language. But after studying at ILI, I can communicate in English much better. The teaching here makes GRAMMAR fun through activities. I enjoy writing ESSAY and learning about different cultures and aspects from presenting in class. I have made new friends from all over the world. Studying here has given me a broader perspective of the world. ILI is the best quality language school in Washington DC, I can say that from my heart.

I studied here for a month and then transferred to another school. By contrast, I recommend this school from the teaching quality of teachers, but unfortunately I live a little far from the school, otherwise I will choose to stay here and continue my studies. If you want to study English well or take the TOEFL, this is a good school.

Took an intermediate group course in a foreign language (not English), and the classes are long (2.5 hours) with only a short break that the teacher sometimes gave us. If you are dissatisfied with the course once you start taking it, they are unable to offer a refund. Apparently they don’t care about student experience? It feels like a gamble on the quality of instruction you receive, and at the price point of the courses, I would not recommend you take them.

I studied here for 6 months and had a great experience. It is definitely one of the best language school in this area. My English improved a lot. Huge thanks to Dean, Jim, and Nathan they were always kind, supportive, and made learning enjoyable. If you’re looking to learn English, I totally recommend this school!

I have studied at the Institute for multiple semesters. While the quality of instruction has generally been strong and the tuition affordable, I was disappointed by the customer service I received today. I was unable to return home before class to retrieve my textbook, so I called the Institute to ask if I could borrow the class’s copy for one session. The representative on the phone denied my request without providing a reason other than "we don't do that here" and, in my view, showed little concern for ensuring that I had the necessary study materials. As a student who has been enrolled for several semesters, I believe it would have been reasonable to make this accommodation, particularly since I am aware that at least one extra copy of the textbook is available. I wish the Institute had taken more interest in supporting my academic needs.

I’ve really enjoyed my time at ILI. The teachers are kind and professional, and the classes have helped me improve my speaking and confidence. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn English in a friendly environment!
