Please release Pastor Hyun-Bo Son. When did South Korean Christians lose their free speech rights? If South Korea persecutes Christians just like North Korea, why should the USA spend billions of dollars every year defending South Korea?

Tried calling them for several hours and several days, even left a voice message with my number but with no call back. I dont know if they really are there to help people or just for the sake of formalities. Anyways maybe they go to work just to talk with each other.

The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea really needs to work on updating their website, forms, and improving their service. Before I visited them for my appointment, I downloaded necessary forms from the website ( 영사민원24) expecting to facilitate a process. However, it turned out the forms available on the website were old or wrong versions and I had to fill out all the forms again on the site. Also, they should update and post correct business hours across the web. For example, their business hours in Google are posted 9-12pm, and 3-5 pm although they open at 1 pm after lunch break. It might create confusion for people whose appointment is scheduled between 1-3 pm. My appointment was 2:30 pm, but the website information showed they will open at 3 pm, so I came to the Embassy of the Republic of Korea although I doubted.. Eventually, I had to drive back to the Consulate. Given they represent the Republic of Korea, it is quite surprising how inefficient and poorly it is managed. In addition, the staff didn't seem to be professional and welcoming. The person who took care of my business today wasn't extremely rude, but she was passive aggressive.

Very positive experience. Answered immediately. Called the Embassy today after a long frustrating day full of calling people after another, and the recipient was extremely helpful and patient with me, and walked me through everything. Even after walking me through all my questions, he provided me with extra information. This is not just some office job for him, he was extremely interested in helping me throughly. 6/5 stars, the front desk recipient is very helpful. Very impressed.

The Korean Embassy in DC was visited by many officials from the Executive branch of the US government and the US Congress because Korea has been neglecting the issue of the kidnapped children who were taken from America. This is a violation of HAGUE CONVENTION on International Abduction. Multiple US government officials tried to express their concerns but my child Bryan Sung still remains in Korea after 5 years of legal battle, 11 court orders including the Korean supreme court order. The mother who abducted my son is charged for 1st degree custodial interference by Washington state, and International Parental Kidnapping by the Federal government. When FBI asked the Korean government for help, Korean government turned their request down, refusing to provide any help to recover the missing child withheld illegally by his mother. Recently Secretary of State, Blinken directly communicated with the Korean ministry of Foreign affairs. It is baffling how the Korean government can do nothing after the supreme court makes a decision. This story has been on National News as well as international news (Fox news, Daily Mail, Korea Times, Korea Herald, New York Post), and was even made into a short film titled "DO YOU REMEMBER DAD?" which won multiple awards all around the world, including LA, NY, Chicago, UK, Seoul and Incheon. I will note condone Korea's violation of the international treaty the government signed with the United States of America. Please remember BRYAN SUNG, who was kidnapped to South Korea, and is still withheld in the country.

My interaction with the Korean embassy took place over several occasions, and each time I (or one of my family members) spoke with the staff members here (specifically Inés Ha, who was especially kind and patient), we came away with the impression that the embassy personnel were kind, knowledgeable, and efficient when it came to dealing with all relevant matters. I can’t say enough good things, and I really appreciated the generosity of the staff members’ time.

So my wife (Korean citizen) and I attempted to navigate on the embassy's website to set an appointment for a document she needs, as instructed by the automated agent/message you get when you call (there is no way to talk to an actual person!!!!!!)-. The website is HORRIBLE both in English and Hangul. There is no way to make any sort of appointment on the Embassy website, even though the Embassy's automated system told us that's how you do it! Man.... it seems that even highly efficient Korean people become Americanized with the lack of customer service once they live in America for a while...
