St. Joe County Public Library

The librarian, Sarah, who helped me in the Family and History department was absolutely amazing and helpful, and I would give her 5 stars!! But...My husband and I did NOT feel safe there at all! There was a man who was told no food in the area and he got super irate with the librarian (he had apparent serious mental health issues) and I was afraid for hers and our safety! He had his food still out by the computer and oddly had shoe boxes with new shoes looking at them. Weird. Then there were several (appeared to be homeless) men sitting and laying around staring us down in an extremely creepy way (I was worried about being assaulted). I reported it to multiple staff members who did not seem concerned whatsoever and seemed beyond complacent. We asked if there were police on staff to report our concerns in which we were told they only have a crisis intervention department (have no idea what that even means, but not helping the situation at all). Safety first should always be the priority and it is most certainly not the case there. We will not be back until they stop allowing the library to be a homeless shelter. Can't believe they want us to pay $50 per person per year to go to this library! Why to support local criminals?! Not going to happen!

Great place to watch your kid take toys away from the other kids because he doesn't know how to share yet, and whisper "library voice" as he pterodactyl screams and tries to push other kids off "his bus" Really though the staff is cool and parents can feel safe that their kids have a lot of fun stuff to do while we sit and breathe in and out and sneak snacks from our child's diaper bags. I apologize to the public for how my son made "cheeseburgers" for the parents. Some did not want them. Pretty good arm though. Oh. And lots of good books to read. Bc library. Five stars we'll be back if they let us

Very nice and renovated library. Employees are very kind and helpful. I like that they have different sections for different age groups. They have an arcade and a cafe that offers variety of drinks and bakery items. You can also reserve study rooms. They have a courtyard, auditorium, and a ballroom. Nice place to come and read books or bring your little ones to play in the play area.

Tax payers had to pay for the remodel of this library and it is absolutely disgusting!! It’s always dirty..there was a baby roach crawling on the vending machine! They allow the homeless to literally lay and sleep all over this place and I absolutely do not understand that! I get coming inside from the cold or rain, but to have blankets and literally be spread out on the couch is ridiculous… to use the study rooms to sleep in is absolutely ridiculous! One time one of the homeless men went into the woman’s bathroom! There are young kids around there all the time! I think as a tax payer myself this is something to start calling the city about and making some complaints! Because if you were going to use the tax payers money for this remodel it shouldn’t be like this every time you go in there or you should of use the money to make a place for the homeless to sleep in! Go on the second floor of this place and you will be absolutely disgusted and flabbergasted!

In town for the holidays and got to visit the library. Absolutely loved the kids room. My kid loved the play area and we were there for activity time which was great.

The public library downtown is one of my favorite places. There are so many resources, and the staff are so kind! I only wish the hours were a bit better on Sunday throughout the year.

Studio 304 is great. You have adobe tools, 3D printers, etc all available to you with helpful staff.
