South Bend Community School Corporation

Transportation sucks. I have a special needs child he gets out of school at 3:30 shows up at 5:00. The big thing is they tell the school he is dropped off at 4:06. Plus I have two kids that go to school and I have to call everyday to see if they're going to be picked up and dropped off. It's close to the end of the year now and still can't get kids picked up and dropped off correctly. Who ever is in charge needs to be fired

It is 8:30pm on 8/14/23 (so after business hours). School starts on 8/16/23 (in one day) and I (along with many other parents I've talked to) have yet to receive bus/transportation information. A lot of kids in the school system ride the bus so I don't understand the poor planning and lack of communication on South Bend Community School's part. It's a little ridiculous. I emailed the school and left a comment on Facebook - no response. No communication about bus issues anywhere. (If it weren't for Marquette Montessori, I'd send my kids to Mishawaka schools. Marquette is the only saving grace - they're amazing.) Fingers crossed that a bus actually shows up on the first day of school. The clear backpack policy is also ridiculous. Invest in some metal detectors. Update: for 2024, SBCSC has dropped pre-K kids from transportation so if you have a preschooler, good luck getting them to school. The school system's lack of communication is still abysmal and their website is impossible to find information on.

A nightmare school system, amazing they are still open because NOBODY knows what's going on or can ever answer any questions for you. Have lost my kids on multiple school buses, and won't tell you often that they are holding your children hostage for hours and have no reason why they haven't contacted you. From not knowing what's going on about the summer Pebt to my sons teacher knowingly avoiding me after my son somehow ended up with a possible concussion that I had to take him to the hospital for that nobody could explain. Take pics of your kids everyday because this school system is for sure questionable. (Wilson Elementary)

The ABSOLUTE worst public school transportation. They don't NEVER have a bus driver. They are ALWAYS either LATE or just simply don't show up 😔. They called me 15 minutes before school was out to let me know that my daughter wasn't going to have a bus. SBSC transportation SUCKS.

I don't even know where to begin. Just don't send your kids to any of their schools. There's no planning or common sense put into anything. This is a corporation problem, not a school problem. There is an INSANE amount of violence with many children bringing GUNS to the schools. Which leads to me their clear backpack AND lunchbox policy. Stop the violence! There are ZERO consequences for the kids' actions, so they run the show. There have been multiple fights at MIDDLE school and high school sporting events, involving so many people the entire police force at the time was called in. Please look into other corporations in the area or private schooling. The vouchers offer a way to get away from this school system. It is worth it. It is the most frustrating and unsafe experience of my life.

here it is the day before school starts and no communication from SBCSC other then a blank letter about transportation. NO bus number NO time. NO nothing but a waste of dollars on mailing out a blank form and no one to answer down town. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS and VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. No wonder why the charter schools is getting all the enrollments.

As a student I wish I could rate it a 0. South bend truly doesn’t care about their. children’s education... How do I know.? I wait for my bus everyday & on multiple occasions it did not show up. No call, no notification, nothing ! The bus driving doesn’t get to the school until 4:20 pm when they’re suppose to be there by 4:08 pm. During extreme weather they don’t even let us sit inside & wait..... they makes us wait in the cold, or scorching hot. I’m fed up, they hire anybody off the streets. If you’re thinking about enrolling your children here please don’t !!!
