Ridgeview College Preparatory High School has a rating of 3.5 out of 5 based on over 48 reviews on Google
As an older cousin of a student currently attending Ridgeview, I feel the need to speak up—not to attack, but to express real concerns about the environment students are dealing with. It’s disappointing to see staff publicly argue with students over honest reviews. Instead of taking the feedback seriously, the replies come off defensive, which tells me they’re more focused on protecting their image than improving the school. I understand Ridgeview is "A-rated," but let’s be honest—that’s nothing rare in Arizona. Many schools hold that label. What truly sets a school apart is how students are treated and supported—and unfortunately, Ridgeview falls short in that area. One of the most ridiculous and ongoing issues is the bathroom situation. Ridgeview is a small school, and somehow, staff still can’t manage to keep even two bathrooms open at a time. That’s unacceptable. If the adults running the school can’t handle such a basic responsibility, maybe they’re better off working somewhere where they only have to manage other adults—since that’s clearly who they prefer to treat with respect. Students are being micromanaged, tracked, and monitored just to use the restroom, as if they can’t be trusted to take a break from class like any normal human being. It’s weird, it’s invasive, and it doesn’t reflect the kind of environment a so-called "college preparatory" school should be creating. Pair that with the overuse of surveillance cameras and strict tracking policies, and it starts to feel more like a prison than a school—especially when the uniforms are bright orange. The lack of trust in students is not just frustrating, it’s harmful. Even the athletic program—something that’s supposed to bring students together and represent school pride—feels like an afterthought. There’s no standout structure or recognition. It’s just a group of guys walking around in orange jerseys like it’s for show, not skill. And as a zero-tolerance school, Ridgeview expects students to follow every rule perfectly—but can’t even respond quickly or effectively when real issues come up. If you’re going to hold students to high standards, the staff should be held to even higher ones. All in all, I’m speaking not just out of frustration but concern. My cousin, like many students, deserves to be in a learning environment where their needs are understood, their voices are heard, and their safety—mental and physical—is a priority. Until Ridgeview stops flexing a rating and starts truly showing leadership, it’s just going to keep being the same disappointing experience.
Let me be real — Ridgeview has its moments, but there’s a lot that just didn’t sit right with me. First off, the whole notebook situation was annoying. They say the books are "recommended," but if you don’t use the exact one they want (like those huge orange Cornell notebooks), some teachers definitely get irritated. Cornell notes aren’t bad, but most of the time they felt unnecessary. Students should be allowed to take notes in the way that helps them learn best — not just what makes grading easier or looks more uniform for the school. Also, while some teachers really care (shoutout to the few who actually did), staff turnover was crazy last year. Teachers were leaving mid-year, and there was a lot of inconsistency. On top of that, there were serious issues like a school threat and students bringing things to campus they absolutely shouldn’t have. Bullying was a problem too, and I knew several students who were open about struggling with their mental health — but it felt like staff didn’t notice or didn’t act fast enough. In a school this small, you’d think that would be easier to catch, but it often felt like students were expected to act like staff. On a lighter note, they did have some fun activities every once in a while — credit where it’s due. But if you’re into clubs, this probably isn’t the school for you. There were only one or two, and the student body’s just too small to really get anything going. Same for sports. If you’re into football, track, or anything competitive, don’t expect much. The athletics program isn’t built for serious athletes. Dress code-wise, it’s decent. You have to wear a school shirt every day, which they say is meant to look "classy." But let’s be honest, it’s a black shirt with a big orange lion printed on it — not exactly giving elegance. Overall, the school’s not the worst, but it’s definitely not what you’d expect from something with "college preparatory" in the name. It’s more of a place for students trying to make the most of it and find little pockets of fun where they can. Would I recommend it? Not really — especially if you’re looking for the full high school experience. No need to reply to this review either — I said what I said. 😂❤️
I was a Ridgeview Student for three years, at first, I loved it, I was on the cross country team, and loved all my teachers, Until my junior year, where all my favorite teachers left, and the school changed from direct instruction from teachers and interactive classwork to being slaved by a online program, resulting in limited human interaction and caused me to go online, because at that point, what's the point of actually going to school. I'm not saying this to diss the school or give it a bad reputation, I'm saying this so parents looking to sent their kids to this school know what they are getting their kids into. On the upside, they offer early graduation and help with students who plan on committing to going to college. By offering college classes, as well as early graduation to give an earlier kick start to life compared to the average high school. In summary, I have a love-hate relationship with this school, as it had high highs early on, until all the original teachers left and everything shifted to online classes without teacher instruction.
As a student at Ridgeview College, I couldn't be happier with my experience here! This school truly embraces high expectations, and it's motivating to be part of an environment where everyone is encouraged to reach their full potential. The teachers and administration genuinely care about us, and their support makes a huge difference in our academic and personal growth.
My family has always moved around since we have served in the military. When we finally had the opportunity to settle down, my daughter had attended numerous schools from all the moving. I have to say that since my daughter has been attending Ridgeview College Prep she has grown not just as a student but as a person. The atmosphere at the school is extremely inviting and welcoming. The staff at the school is absolutely fantastic. The the teachers are engaging and involved with the school and students. The uniforms are fresh and up to date. The extra curricular activities and events are well thought out and timely. I know that all schools have challenges but from the Principal to all the staff they face these challenges head on and are willing to listen to parents and students to affect change. They are constantly working with the students to find a better balance of life as a student attending the school. Because the school is still new and growing, the sports and clubs programs are constantly progressing by offering more team sports, scholastic programs and clubs each year. To sum this review up Ridgeview College Prep is an excellent school to send your child to. I know this because I can see the proof in my daughter. Since my daughter has been attending this school we all feel a sense of community and belonging. There is no price you can put on that. If you are on the fence about sending your student to Ridgeview College Prep, you can be confident that sending your student to this school is the right choice.
I am incredibly impressed with Ridgeview College Prep! One of the standout features of this school is the opportunity to take free college credit classes. This has been an amazing advantage, allowing students like me to get a head start on our college education while still in high school. It’s a fantastic way to save time and money, and it really prepares us for the next step in our academic journey. But what truly sets Ridgeview apart is how much the teachers and administration care about their students. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure we have the resources and support we need to succeed. They are always available to provide guidance, whether it’s academic help, personal advice, or college and career counseling. The school fosters a nurturing environment where students feel valued and motivated. The administration is constantly working to improve the school and make it a place where everyone can thrive. They listen to our feedback and make changes that truly benefit the student body. Overall, Ridgeview College Prep is a fantastic place to learn and grow. The combination of free college credit classes and a caring, supportive atmosphere makes it a top choice for any student looking to excel in their education and beyond. Highly recommended!
I am extremely pleased with my experience at Ridgeview College Prep! The administration truly cares about each student's well-being and success. From the principal (Mrs. Chavez) to the bus driver (Ms. Sue), every member of the team is dedicated, approachable, and supportive. They go above and beyond to ensure that students feel valued and heard. One aspect that stands out is how the school embraces its dress code. It's clear that the dress code is enforced thoughtfully and respectfully, creating a positive and focused learning environment. The guidelines are fair and promote a sense of unity and pride among students. It's refreshing to see a school where the dress code is used to foster a respectful and professional atmosphere rather than just a set of rules to follow. Overall, Ridgeview College Prep excels in creating a nurturing and structured environment that sets students up for success both academically and personally. I highly recommend this school to any parent looking for a place where their child will be supported and encouraged every step of the way!
