There's a new coffee and pastry shop in San Francisco that offers a unique Korean fusion experience. The shop is impressively spacious for a coffee shop, boasting high ceilings and seating on both the ground and first floors. Despite its size, the place was bustling when we arrived, though we were fortunate enough to find a table immediately. We were seated comfortably on a sofa. The concept of the shop resembles that of a restaurant. Upon arrival, a staff member greets you, inquires about the number of guests, and then guides you to your table, even using a walkie-talkie for coordination. For ordering, you can conveniently scan a QR code at your table to place your order online. Our food selections included the Galbi Patty Melt, Sohn Breakfast, Popcorn Chicken, and a Cookie. For drinks, we enjoyed the Yuja Perilla Espresso Tonic, Signature Cream Top, a cortado, and a latte. The food and drinks were delightful. I particularly enjoyed the Galbi Patty. The Popcorn Chicken had an interesting twist with the inclusion of Korean rice cake.

We waited about 20 minutes to be seated. We ordered the hojicha cream top and a banana oat milk matcha. The hojicha was very good, but the matcha was just okay—the banana flavor was quite strong, so the matcha taste wasn’t very noticeable. We also ordered the popcorn chicken, which was quite salty, but the staff kindly provided a sour sauce that helped balance it out. The kimchi fried rice just looked appetizing, though it ended up being a bit oily. Overall, the decor and atmosphere are very nice, making it a great place for a group of friends to chat and hang out.

Atmosphere: Large space with second floor seating. Feels airy and clean. Food Breakfast sandwich: Fluffy egg with a savory sweet jam and flaky croissant-like bread. Popcorn chicken: Chicken was hot, crispy and juicy. Since the chicken was fried, I think I would have liked the rice cakes not fried but not a big deal. Not greasy. Did not come with any sauce but you don’t need it. Kimchi fried rice: Pleasantly surprised. Looked plain but it was seasoned well and topped with an egg and served in a tin box. Banana Oat Hojicha: excellent. I’d come back for this. Service: The person managing the line was friendly and we opted to sit in the lounge area with the low table. Comfortable seating. You bus your own table. It’s a beautiful space to come with friends and food was presented beautifully. My only complaint was that someone was dining near us and brought their dog. As she stood up to leave, the dog came towards our table to sniff our food (luckily didn’t touch our food but was very close since it was a low table). Really wish people would leave their pets at home and hope staff can reinforce this to customers.

Great and cute cafe. Lovely atmosphere with high ceilings and japandi-esque furniture. There’s a cute little shop in the corner of the cafe that sells korean cookbooks, art and dishware. We got the banana oat matcha latte and the regular matcha latte. The regular matcha latte wasn’t too sweet which was good, but the matcha flavor was not very intense. The banana oat matcha latte was very sweet, so maybe wait a little bit for the ice to melt before drinking. Overall, would come again for the vibes and to try the food.

cute cafe with relaxing interior space, it makes great spot for productivity or hanging out with friends! ordered the matcha cream tops and it was good, no graininess in the matcha drink whatsoever !! popcorn chicken & kimchi fried rice was a reasonable price and well seasoned. service was good! overall enjoyed my quick bites at sohn ⭐️🍵

December 2025: Stopped by for brunch on a Saturday. Line was very long for dine in. They will only seat you when your entire party is present. Ordered the kimchi fried rice and a banana 🍌 oat milk latte. I very much liked the fried rice. Would definitely come back again for the rice. I also liked the banana latte. I'm usually not one to drink a flavored sweetened latte. But this was not overly sweet. Would have this again too.

I’m excited to see how Sohn will turn out in a few months. I visited the space today to catch up with a friend while I had a short trip to SF. My friend warned of the possible long lines and wait for dining in but Sohn offers a different line for takeout which is great if you’re in a hurry. I waited about 15-20minutes when there was ~10 people out the the door, and an employee came out multiple times to offer some seaweed chex mix while we were waiting. The staff are really friendly and seem well organized and communicative. The space almost feels like a full service restaurant with the level of service that is provided. I got the matcha latte with cream top and popcorn chicken that came with rice cakes. The matcha latte was reasonably priced at $7 and pretty good. It wasn’t too strong but you could still taste the matcha. The popcorn chicken was really crunchy but I felt it was kind of dry and had a strong chicken flavor. Maybe if it was fried differently to be juicier or was paired with a sauce it could be better. The rice cakes had a seaweed seasoning and were alright but not outstanding. The portions also felt small for the food (attached photos are before any consumption). However, you can tell the food presentation and taste are designed very intentionally but I felt like there’s still room for improvement. Overall, the space feels like a great place to hang out with friends and chill with a variety of cafe drinks and some entrees/sides. As I understand, they are relatively new and haven’t been open for long. I’m excited to see how Sohn will be like in a year and how they can build off their already impressive operations.
