Rock Hill Schools

There are really great people working in this school district. Overall, staff cares about the students, staff, and community. The school board has had its issues, but that does not take away from what the hard working teachers do on a daily basis. The superintendent is brand new, so I hope she shows up for the kids and the teachers from day one.

Horrible school district that doesn't control the schools. Each school does what they want. Today is the 1st day and it should've been cancelled. There is a full on storm going on and they still want the kids in school. The same district that cancelled school for possible heavy winds and possible snow but didn't think they should cancel for an actual storm.

Rock Hill School District is the reason why most prefer private or charter education for their children. School has started a little over a month ago, and already my child has had two week long quarantines. Now if I had opted to keep my child out for two weeks, the district would be threatening me with family court for negligence. But since there was a "close contact" with a Covid infected student, absences get a pass. If the district was really THAT concerned about the spread, they’d mandate masks. Don’t be lax about the prevention of the spread, and then take extreme measures when the spread occurs. And yes, forcing children into quarantine causing a 50% attendance rate is an extreme measure. Furthermore, why so many instances of "close contact" when kids are supposed to be socially distancing. Who is doing the thinking for the district? Covid is here, and will be here for a while until everyone gets on board with the same plan of prevention. Accept it. Adapt to it.. because no one is quarantined for a stomach bug or the flu close contact. At some point educating needs to come back into play. The failing of these children is very deliberate. If you want people to support public schools, support yourselves!

Lack of communication is beyond ridiculous at this school district. When going to orientation I was turned away not once but twice. No email, no call no anything about the things needed for orientation. Then when rushing home to get the required info was turned away once more for not allowing a baby into the school. It is ridiculous.

Bernard Gill do your job sir!! I bet your kids dont ride these god awful buses!! An hour and still counting late on the 1st day of school for my son. Is it that difficult to figure out a better solution. They're picking up kids on the side celenease rd. too not to safe!!!!

Make sure you have an appointment because this building is very secure. They keep the doors locked at all times. Please bring a mask they don't have any for you apon entry.
