Southeast Martial Arts Academy

It is very hard to find a real traditional budo academy nowadays, where you can find more than sports a true martial art method conceived to build a better you every single day. With the Shisei Ryu method I was able to learn a pretty sharp martial art which combines karate, judo, aikido, iaido and kendo, yes, 5, everything in one school and in one method. Coming from a traditional Goju Ryu school, I found my new home dojo there. The head instructor is very knowledgeable and inspirational. This is serious stuff and I love it. Your kids will be in great hands to develop their character and become better persons in life and they also will be able to defend themselves. It really met my expectations.

This school is great for learning martial arts from the ground up. The head instructor, Soke Lane, has incredible knowledge of the mechanics of movement, timing, and absorbability. If you are wanting to learn Karate, Judo, Aikido, Bokken (sword), or Aikijujutsu application, this school is excellent at transmitting skill and experience to any practitioner, from beginner to advanced. I have been associated with Soke for many years. He has always been a source of inspiration to me off and on the mat. I am still learning from him. I took my kids to see him and they really liked learning from him. The teaching staff are also well equipped and represent the dojo admirably. I love everything about this Academy! If you are looking for a class, look no further! Staff members are excellent and the students in the class are a fantastic group of kids. As they are learning Martial Arts they are also learning respect, self confidence and discipline. My son looks forward to going every week.

The adult classes are just OK. The teacher is quite knowledgeable but there are many issues that prevent the trainings from being as productive as they could be. Update 5/14/2022: For some reason I am unable to respond but this is Ava Wilson. The classes were just OK. There was a lot of favoritism in the adult classes that made it very difficult to concentrate and learn the techniques. Additionally, the Head Teacher often missed adult classes which would cause students to incorrectly learn moves. Finally for some reason, the Head Teacher questioned my ability to earn a black belt and was hesitant though I passed my black belt test with no issues. I am grateful for what I learnt but overall it was due to my dedication and the knowledge of the teacher, and not necessarily the execution of the class. Overall, I do think the child classes satisfactory.

Outstanding school. Teaches self defense, discipline, respect, and more. Prices are competitive. Soke Jeff and the other Sensei are all fantastic.
