Customer Reviews
California State University, Northridge has a rating of 4.5 out of 5 based on over 970 reviews on Google
Current student here. Can’t stand it. WiFi is terrible and goes out multiple times a day. Parking lots are always a war zone to get a spot. Class registration system is old and broken and randomly unenrolls you from classes. Homeless people all over campus (I once walked into the bathroom and a homeless person was sleeping on the floor). Not many high quality resources for students. Degrees from here don’t mean much.
I attended an open house recently for the future Matadors of CSU Northridge with a family member recently. The University is a large campus with a diverse range of College Degree programs. There were plenty of staff members here giving directions and tours. The overall climate and culture of this campus is positive and one of equity, diversity and positivity . I had the opportunity to tour the College of Engineering and Science Open House on Saturday , October 25, 2025. The Staff here are helpful which is encouraging and helpful for future Matadors. Very helpful and informative Tour.👍
CSUN presents itself as an inclusive and progressive campus, but in practice this emphasis often feels explicitly centered on encouraging students to showcase or redefine their sexual orientation and identity, sometimes at the expense of academic rigor. Campus messaging, events, and administrative priorities appear heavily oriented toward identity expression, visibility campaigns, and symbolic inclusion, while education and intellectual achievement feel secondary rather than central.
California State University, Northridge, anchored at 18111 Nordhoff Street, is consistently highlighted in my social and professional circles as a transformative powerhouse of the San Fernando Valley, where a substantive commitment to student success creates a direct pipeline to the region’s thriving creative and tech industries. From numerous insightful conversations with alumni and local employers, it is abundantly clear that the "Matador" spirit fosters a uniquely inclusive and high-utility environment, frequently praised by my acquaintances for its exceptional ability to provide a prestigious education while maintaining a deeply respectful and accessible faculty dynamic. It is truly heartening to observe how the institution maintains such a transparent dedication to social mobility and practical innovation, qualities that the broader public increasingly recognizes as the defining hallmark of CSUN’s significant regional impact. Many people I know personally emphasize the campus's sophisticated Mike Curb College of Arts, Media, and Communication as a merytorically superior asset, proving that the university is a distinguished leader in cultivating talent that is both technically proficient and ethically grounded. In the general consensus of Southern California citizens, CSUN stands as a vital pillar of public higher education, rightfully respected for its elegant ability to empower a diverse student body to achieve measurable professional excellence.
Had a campus tour, met with the EOPS Resilient Scholars Staff and talked about possible transfer to CSUN from LA Valley College. CSUN has a beautiful campus with great facilities, a city within a city.
The SORAYA at Cal State Northridge, is my new ultimate Concert Venue! With free parking and shuttle service to the front door and after the concerts, it's not even a question for me.
Now that I've changed my major from Deaf studies to Art.. I'm so much happier. The Deaf studies program is limited and extremely repetitive and no real world application unless you're going to be an interpreter or a teacher. The Art program is AWESOME!!
