Yang Taekwondo

If you’re looking for the best taekwondo dojang in NYC, Yang Taekwondo is the place to be. Master Yang is the epitome of a true martial artist. She’s dedicated to bringing out the best in you, not just as a martial artist but as a person. It’s more than just learning techniques; Master Yang teaches you a way of life. She’s incredibly knowledgeable and inspiring, but what really sets her apart is her deep care for her students, which is evident in everything she does. Finding a teacher who prioritizes quality and genuinely cares about your well-being is rare, and I feel very lucky to have found Master Yang's dojang and to be learning from her. The dojang itself has a positive and welcoming vibe that reflects Master Yang’s character. She has created a space where people of all ages and backgrounds can thrive, and I'm grateful to be part of such a wonderful community. Whether you’re new to taekwondo or looking for a new place to train, I highly recommend checking out Yang Taekwondo. You’ll learn from an exceptional teacher and become part of an amazing community!

I have been on the hunt for a new Tae Kwon Do school for a long time. I am so glad I found Yang Tae Kwon Do! From my first class I knew this was exactly what I've been looking for. Master Yang is a fantastic teacher, the facilities are wonderful and all the other students are very nice. The classes are intense and challenging, but I wouldn't have it any other way. If you're on the fence just go check it out. I found my new Tae Kwon Do home and I'm sure you will too!

I am a life-long runner (okay, really slow jogger) and ten years ago I just wanted to add upper-body strengthening and stretching to my routine. I found so much more than that with Master Yang's Taekwondo! Master Yang is an amazing, inspiring teacher for both adults and children - my children thought my new-found bad-ass skills were so cool they signed up as well. You get a sweat-pouring cardio and strengthening work out at the same time, as well as a mental one! She never teaches the same class twice, and her classes are always fun and challenging. Her school is clean, bright and airy. Try a free class and see for yourself!

Before moving back to Europe, I was a student of Master Yang, and she is the real deal. She has been studying under Grandmaster S.J. Kim before opening up her own school, and I cannot praise her loudly enough. Not only does she teach you the movements and forms of taekwondo, but much more importantly does she instill the spirit of taekwondo in you. Words like perseverance, discipline, love and honor are not just words, but guiding principles of her teaching. There is no better place to send your kids but here (and certainly SJKIM on the UWS). Where else do you both get lessons for life and physical training from a two times ivy league educated taekwondo master with a heart of gold?

The teachers are amazing the the location is clean, I've spent so many hours here and I love what we do and how I feel. Do it, you won't regret it. I will add some more photos (these are outdated).
