New York Chinese School

My son has been learning here since he was 4. The school has been around for about 110 years, impressive and showing that it has experience in teaches kids the language of Chinese. The teachers are nice, and are good at discussing Chinese with beginner, intermediate, and advanced students. In addition, the school also offers extracurricular activities, namely dancing, piano, and tutoring. All of this for good pricing! The environment may not be the newest in terms of physically, but socially it’s the best. The kids are nice, and the staff are too. The school also offers volunteer opportunities for high schoolers. I highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to learn Chinese (Mandarin) or Cantonese.

My two little boys are very lucky to attend this school for tutoring and various enrichment classes. Their Chinese reding and writing have improved a lot. They learned piano from professional teachers here and played very well. The school is clean, well organized and safe. All the office staff, teachers and principal are very kind , helpful and caring. My children are learning and growing up happily here. They have become more confident and outgoing. This is their second warm home. I am grateful for their support and help.

I volunteer at NYCS, and I am confident to speak of my observations and experiences here. The tuition price is very affordable. Kids can learn a lot from them from Chinese, English, and many more. Besides these classes, the school provides piano, coding, dance, and drawing courses for the kids. Additionally, the teachers are considerate of the kids in class. It’s like a regular school day for them with break time to interact with other students in class. Most importantly the school is fully responsible for the safety of the students once they arrive and leave. This includes a clean and healthy environment for the kids to learn in. Furthermore, breakfast and lunch are included which helps the kids to replenish their energy. Regardless of culture, everyone is welcome from students to staff and volunteers at the school. Even though the volunteers at the school are either just high school or college students they all know what they are doing. From here the school shows respect, compassion, and hard work to improve the next generation with more knowledge.

I was a student here since I was young and this place has always been most memorable. The atmosphere has  always been fun and welcoming but the studies still stays serious. The teachers are extremely hard working to create lessons and teach what they know while at the same time, with the younger students, will teach them to be disciplined. Despite being over a century old, its legacy has continued to stay strong despite many challenges battering the organization and I fully support what they do. Currently I am volunteering here along with many others and I hope other people will do the same.

I am amazed at the professionalism of the staff and how well they manage the school. The staff all know what tasks must be completed and are competent at their job. Many are also versed in multiple languages other than English which include Cantonese and Chinese and this is fitting considering that this is in Chinatown.  Anyone who comes here, regardless of culture, will also feel welcomed as the staff all have a friendly demeanour, especially to the students / children. Volunteers, despite mostly seeming to be highschool students are also helpful not just to the school but also to anyone who has any questions.

This Chinese school is absolutely amazing! Everyone here is kind and polite! The Teachers are highly educated and the Teacher Assistants are well mannered. The staffs here are also very patient and they explain in detailed. I’ve had a very meaningful experience here, and I’ve learned a lot.
