Chinese Language Academy of Los Angeles

Ive been taking online classes at this school for the past year and really recommend it. The teachers are helpful, the class sizes are small, and the study materials are very thorough. Ive learned more Mandarin in the last year taking classes at this school than I have with 10 years of Duolingo.

Chinese Language Academy has been extremely helpful in my learning, and I couldn't recommend them more. The teachers are very experienced at understanding where each student is at in their proficiency, pacing the class appropriately, and explaining difficult concepts in a simple to understand way. I started with Barbara Wen in the Elementary C class just to see how I liked it, but I thought the structure was great so I decided to continue and eventually studied with Si Chen in the Intermediate B class. Both teachers were excellent and made the classes both fun and interesting. Thanks again CLA!

I love the CLA program! I've taken a number of classes from beginner through advanced and have made so much progress in CLA's online small group classes. The carefully structured program leads students through the many lessons and levels at a pace that's challenging but rewarding. I've especially enjoyed instructor Si Chen's classes. She's always so cheerful, and she prepares meticulously for every class. Her teaching is incredibly focused and efficient; she creates exercises specific to each class, building on previously-learned vocabulary and grammar. I particularly appreciate her detailed explanations of the meaning of each lesson's Chinese characters. I highly recommend CLA to anyone interested in building an excellent foundation in Mandarin. With its exclusive focus on Mandarin, CLA is able to provide the kind of in-depth instruction I haven't found at other language schools.

I highly recommend CLA. I started as a beginner in March 2023, and CLA's curriculum gave me a solid foundation to build on as I continue advancing through their courses. Additionally, I started with the weekend track but later switched to the weeknight track, and I find both to be very manageable on top of my full time work schedule. Every CLA instructor I have worked with has been so smart, kind, and informative. Si Chen in particular is an amazing teacher who makes classes engaging and challenging, and she takes the time to ensure students understand the material. Justin Saka is also so helpful and always responds quickly to questions about CLA's courses.

The Chinese Language Academy of Los Angeles is great and instructor Si Chen is amazing. I have been enrolled in the CLA for over 2 years and have learned so much. The classes are both challenging and fun. Instructor Chen is very patient and provides an outstanding Mandarin learning experience.

I had an outstanding experience at the Chinese Language Academy. The highly skilled and continuously encouraging teachers made the learning process smooth. The well-structured coursework enabled me to build a solid foundation in basic Chinese in under six months. Thanks to their guidance, I've not only learned but effectively applied Chinese language skills. I can proudly engage in basic conversations, read Mandarin Companion reader books, and continue improving through their advanced courses. My native Mandarin-speaking friends are impressed with my progress, and I highly recommend this exceptional academy to anyone, regardless of their prior Mandarin experience.
