Kim Studio Of Tae Kwon Do

Kim Studio offers traditional martial arts training for the whole family. We train and grow together. It’s a great way to get in shape both with your mind and body.

It has been nearly 2 years since I started studying Tae Kwon Do at Kim Studio. The experience has enhanced my mental and physical well-being, and improved my quality of life. That, combined with the family friendly and collegial environment make Kim Studio a great place to learn Tae Kwon Do.

I had spent many years as a student and instructor at KS. I invested a lot of my time and money. Completed 3rd Dan rank but, unfortunately, I needed to move on. KS is great for children and i highly recommend them but, as an adult moving up through the ranks, I don’t recommend this Studio. The egos of a few were too much for me to tolerate. This was my experience at Lancaster and Harrisburg locations. During a few of my higher ranking tests at Harrisburg, I even felt belittled and disgusted of how I was talked to by higher ranking black belts and most were the ones I worked with for years. The favoritism was another problem at both locations, especially during test night. As an instructor, you would volunteer your evening to help with testing. This would normally involve helping guide students through testing protocols, being a sparring partner, hold breaking boards, etc. unfortunately, the same instructors were always called to help. I usually ended up sitting the entire evening. KS would wonder why the lack of instructor participation. Another issue was cost. I understand private clubs can charge what they want but charging what KS does for above 1st Dan testing is ridiculous. You are trying to retain your instructors, who use their own time and money to teach students, why charge so much? One time, I questioned the costs to the head instructor and his response was, we have a Fund for students that can’t afford test costs. I was blown away by that statement, just because I question costs, you assume I am broke or can’t afford the fee? I have been to 3 studios since KS, for above 1st Dan testing, all were half the cost’s compared to KS. Again, it’s a private club, KS can charge what they want but, made zero sense to me. When I gave notice I was ending my journey with KS, it was almost crickets, no one cared or really wondered why. Again, that mentality starts from the top. I am making this Review now, because I was recently asked by someone why I left KS. I thought I would post how I felt. I want to emphasize there are some great people at KS and would have a positive impact on children, that’s why I would highly recommend KS for children, only. Hope this helps.

I have been attending classes at Kim studio for over 3 years. My daughter and I were able to get our black belts together and we keep attending regularly because every class is different and that keeps it fun and interesting.

Kim Studio has changed my life in many ways, they teach traditional Tae Kwon Do and make it fun and interesting for students of all ages and belt ranks, When my son gets old enough he will be joining to learn this awesome martial art from an awesome school!
