Greenwood Adult Education

I went here for four weeks to graduate early. I’m now gonna describe what I can remember. All the work was done on PLP—which I had known to be one of the more boring programs we used in school, but it turned out to be very fitting for the "in-and-out" environment. This school, in my opinion, is a place made for getting things done. You have your own workplace (your desk), a computer you are supplied with, and no distractions. For, I think, three hours a day, you get as much work done as you can (the work being self-paced) and then you leave. A simple routine. (If you don’t meet the goal your teacher discusses with you and sets as your standard for the week/day/whichever, you have to attend school on that week’s Friday in order to complete it. This is, after all, a self-paced school.) In my personal experience, I did not feel necessarily "welcome" at past schools, but I did at Greenwood. Respect is a two-way system; as long as you respect your teachers, they will respect you—this goes not only for attitude, but also meeting the requirements of dress code, etc. The same goes for literally any job ever (and you could argue that this school is more for the students who want to join the workplace early, so if you happen to have a problem with their requirements, know that you may struggle when you join the workforce of the rest of the world.) This staff felt personal, respectful, and kind in my experience. They were adamant in making sure I felt comfortable enough to ask for help. Plus, some teachers went above what I expected, providing us with complementary snacks and drinks to have while we worked. Furthermore, I’d like to add that I never wrote in school. I found every way to dodge writing assignments and essays, whether it be I simply did not do them or I got a family member to write most of the project. While it could have just been that I never met a school that "matched" me, making me feel comfortable and welcomed enough to write, I still feel that I should add that Greenwood was akin to the first school I’ve met that made me feel that comfort. I didn’t know I could enjoy writing essays until Greenwood introduced me to a welcoming learning environment. Also, if you wanna graduate early, pay attention to how many times you get an assignment wrong and then short-term memorize the answers long enough to speed through the assignments. Boom, four weeks of 12 classes done (I joined in April, was scheduled to finish in June. I graduated before the class of 2024 in May.) This was written by someone anti-social, wore baggy clothes, was quiet, and did not need school for any reason other than it was in my way—description added for an idea of why this workplace-like school fit me personally, if it helps.
