When I was fresh out after graduating, I applied for an entry-level position in the school at this university that I got my degree from. I did not even get a callback. They know that their degrees are useless, if they won't even consider one of their own students. Ten years later, I haven't received one offer from a company in the field I wanted to go into as an entry-level capacity even with work experience and other certifications. Modern college in general is a scam, this university is no different. I actually received more interviews after I removed my education off of my resume, in the same period of time.
While this is a very nice campus, the negatives outweigh the benefits. Even with scholarship money and grants, tuition is very expensive. Resources are limited and registration per semester is hectic. I highly recommend high school seniors to not attend here. Loyola is getting more expensive every year and more crowded. Even though opting out of many un-needed expenses such as student health insurance and opting out of dorming, the cost is still unaffordable and will end up with a lot of dept pushing out families of middle to low income, making achieving secondary education difficult. The student culture is also very negative with VERY clique groups. Overall, this school is not worth the time or money. Do not waste your time at this school.
I graduated from Loyola many years ago and still have friends at the institution. It is very good school and would gladly recommend it.
It has a great library with long open hours, from 7:30 am to 12 am! In fact, I wanted to use the Loyola un library for self study, but I couldn't because I needed a loyola ID card to enter the library. Therefore only saw the campus and open space of the university. This place is very beautiful, by the lake with classic and modern building and ...
Warning. I work for Loyola and making this review highly suspect. The university has grown in student numbers, numbers of program, student achievement and service to the city of Chicago. What makes Loyola stand out from others is the unapologetic mission of the school. We strive to become a person for others. We believe in strong academics, unwavering integrity and we believe in helping others. When students graduate from Loyola there is an expectation they will remember they are truly privileged people and that they have an obligation to find ways to assist others. It's a Jesuit university, but being Catholic is not a requirement for entrance. In fact more than half of the students attending Loyola are not Catholic. Loyola is the only college basketball team to have won a national championship and that was back in 1963. The program has been dormant for the most part since then. That is until last year when Loyola was the Cinderella team of the NCAA Tournament and the darling of international media thanks in large part to Sister Jean, the teams spiritual leader. A bona fide firecracker, Sister Jean took America, Africa and European media by storm during the tournament. The fairy tale season took the Ramblers to the Final Four where they lost to a very good Michigan team.
My son is so lucky to be going to one of the top Chicago university! It was such a wonderful experience attending his orientation today. Not only the Loyola University has the most amazing campus. The staff, the student leaders and everybody were just so friendly, knowledgeable and so accommodating. My son was initially nervous; but after meeting and bonding with his group, he felt at ease and comfortable meeting new students. As a parent, knowing that my son is in a safe and great environment away from home is really comforting.
It was good to go back to drop off my son. He will be an RA this year. The campus looked good and the new building where my son is is really beautiful.
