Customer Reviews
EastWest has a rating of 4.6 out of 5 based on over 693 reviews on Google
Great service, amazing food , and a really cool atmosphere! Our server gave us the rundown of weekday specials- lots of options and tapas all during the week 🙂 Everything we ordered was fantastic: lettuce wraps , bao buns, fried katsu chicken, and Mongolian beef rice bowl . Highly recommend!
Not sure we’ll be coming back here. Overall, everything just seems extremely overpriced. Especially considering that the other Mr. West and Trussville is literally half the price of some of the items on here. Besides that nothing really blew my mind away. The cauliflower appetizer was good. The wings were good. Had a nice smoke flavor, but were a little dry.. Now for the main course, my steak was just not cooked properly. I understand that a thicker cut of steak will take a lot longer to cook, which is why I didn’t understand why the state came out literally 10 minutes after we had ordered. After sending it back a couple times and it just still not being right I ordered the bow buns which again two for an order $15 with no side is just outrageous. I understand this restaurant is more of like a small plates type of place but it’s just way too overpriced in my opinion. I would definitely come back for the drinks because those actually price somewhat below market value in my opinion but very good and well crafted. Also, the white chocolate bread pudding was quite delectable. That was also delicious.
It’s a nice Asian crossover restaurant. The food was good. The Kobe burger was tasty and juicy. The Korean cauliflower was also good. They offer some unique drinks. The service was friendly. The atmosphere was nice but it was pretty loud so it was difficult to understand our conversation. All in all a good dinner place.
Now why haven’t I been here before?! This is truly a hidden gem and after today, it has officially entered my Top 3 (and it’s not number 3). Beth, our bartender, was the sweetest. She’s new behind the bar but you would never know it friendly, attentive, and she made me one of the best lemon drops I’ve had in Birmingham. She nailed it. Let’s talk about the food because WOW. The service was immaculate everything came out fast but not rushed. Just perfect timing so you can enjoy each plate and still be in and out if you’re on lunch or a date. The flavor? To the T. Every single bite was "yum… WOW." Ask Beth, I said it out loud every time. We ordered the West Wings well-done and crispy soooo good. The sauce is everything. The grilled short ribs? Tender, flavorful, you can see it in my video perfection. My date got the chicken lettuce wraps and he would NOT stop talking about them. He loved them. Then the star arrived: the pan-seared salmon. Crispy skin, beautifully cooked just like the chef recommends, and that lemongrass-soy-butter sauce in the picture? I had to ask for extra to-go.That’s how good it was. And let me say this… I thought I didn’t even like risotto, but I was wrong. The sauce added underneath, the flavor, the texture so good. It was cooked perfectly. Another surprise win on the plate. The ambiance is perfect dim, intimate, cozy, and such a vibe. Great for a date, a chill night out, or even a solo meal. I love a restaurant with atmosphere, and this one delivers without trying too hard. They even have great weekly specials! I’m honestly so happy I found this place. I will absolutely be back to try more of the menu. EastWest just earned a new regular.
East West is such a great spot with an awesome vibe. The atmosphere is stylish but still relaxed, making it perfect for a night out. The duck nachos are a must! crispy, flavorful, and totally addictive. The West Wings were juicy with just the right amount of kick, and the Mongolian ribeye was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. Great food, great atmosphere, and friendly service. Definitely a place I’ll be coming back to!
The food I must say is not very good. The menu is interesting and exciting until it gets on your table and your portion is tiny and the taste is not matching the price you are paying for the food. The service was no problem though. Our waitress took good care of us and the restaurant was a little bit crammed but they dont have much space to work with overall I give a 3/10 on the food. 6/10 on service. 6/10 atmosphere. I wont personally go back to eat here again
We snuck in early-ish, about 6pm on a Friday evening without a reservation. As we expected, there were no seats available but we were offered bar seating (nearly full) or outside at the sidewalk tables (nearly empty). With the pleasant weather, we opted for outdoors. It was perfect. Those soon filled up too and 15m after we arrived we heard the host tell someone there was now a 2 hour wait. We already had drinks and had ordered our food. Service was fast and excellent. The cocktails were creative, delicious and ONLY $10! These were on par with drinks we've paid $13-15 for at many other places downtown. I tried all 4 we ordered and each was very good. We ordered 3 small plates to share and it was just the right amount of food. Each dish was well prepared and seasoned, served up hot and fast. Our server knew all the food and drinks well, and made thoughtful recommendations. We ordered both desserts on the menu, and they were just as pleasing as the other food and drinks. We both commented that it was one of the best meals we've had in a while, start to finish. I can't wait to return.
