JCPenney Salon

My daughter had her hair done yesterday 4/5/2025. My daughter left the salon hysterical crying, her hair is fried on the ends in addition she has burn marks on the back of her neck from the bleach. Her hair is 50 shades of orange, the highlights are not even, there’re foil demarcation lines, random splotches and no seamless blending. How do you come to the salon and leave looking worse?! Today we went back to the salon and were treated poorly, they showed absolutely no sympathy to a 14 year old girl. They stood by the service because it took the stylist " all day". Justifying the work that was performed, just because hours were spent doesn’t mean it’s satisfactory. It’s not anything like the inspiration photo, no one wants brassy uneven hair. I spoke to the Manager Donna yesterday, and because I came today instead of Monday it was an issue for THEM. I was simply offered a free "root touch up". They would not refund the $285 because her stylist "has to get paid". If I was the stylist and left a young girls hair in this condition in addition to an awful color I wouldn’t have even charged her, I would have felt terrible. My daughter has an olive skin tone, dark brown eyes and eyebrows this simply doesn’t compliment her at all. It’s a complete disservice for a professional stylist to apply a color that doesn’t compliment a person. My daughter doesn’t feel comfortable returning to the salon neither do I. We came in to be helped and heard, we left defeated and upset. I guarantee if I were to bring her into any reputable salon they would suggest a total color correction. I need JCP to make this right for the sake of my daughter, she was looking forward to a hair day, which turned into a nightmare.

This is the 3rd time I have visited the JC Penney salon and had an incredible experience with Christine Jai. I cannot recommend her enough! From the moment I sat down in her chair she provided a thorough and thoughtful consultation. She listened carefully to what I wanted and offered her advice which was tailored to my hair type. She did everything I asked and more! Christine is warm , caring, funny and her expertise cannot be matched. Every time I go I leave feeling beautiful. You can tell she really loves what she does and it shows!

When someone boasts about their years of experience, they should be able to back it up by the quality of their work. I recently had a root perm (was supposed to be a root perm) and it's been about two weeks and two inches of the top is straight already. This is the same person that blasted me on FB because I criticized an experience my daughter had at the Eatontown salon some years ago where they put the wrong chemical on hair. This stylist went on and on to brag about her years of expertise in doing perms and how JC Penney is a reputable salon with years of history. So I challenged her, scheduled an appointment and came in for a root perm. Yesterday I contacted her on FB messenger and gave her my thoughts on the disastrous cut rate perm I got. I'd rather pay over $100 for quality perm from a quality salon than $60 for a below standard product from a stylist that just wants to toot her own horn. I'm the one that has to walk around like this and work with this thanks to her. SMH

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Christine Jai at JCPenney Salon. I’ve worked in the hair industry myself, and finding someone these days who truly listens, cares, and takes pride in their craft feels rare. From the moment I sat in her chair, I could tell she was the real deal, experienced, kind, and genuinely passionate about what she does. I came in just wanting a simple long-layer cut with a little extra bounce, and she absolutely nailed it. It’s exactly what I had in mind, light, healthy, and perfectly shaped. Beyond her talent, Christine Jai’s energy is so warm and genuine. You can feel that she truly wants every person who sits in her chair to leave feeling good about themselves. She deserves so much recognition for her skill and heart. Sometimes the best stylists aren’t hidden in fancy salons, they’re the ones like Christine Jai showing up every day, doing amazing work, and making people feel beautiful. I left not only loving my hair, but also feeling so grateful to have met her. If you’re tired of the waitlists and inflated prices elsewhere, go see Christie Jai! You’ll walk out smiling inside and out. 💛

I had a great experience on Wednesday this week at the Pennys salon. My hair was too long and needed a good cut and a color touch up as well. The stylist discussed a color choice with me and it was spot on. Love it and will be back!

Yesterday I went and saw Leann. Not only did she do an amazing job but she was an amazing person to talk to. She took her time and I am so happy with my outcome!!! I used to pay $400+ to get my hair highlighted but the price was very reasonable and she even added some things to make sure I left happy. Will definitely be seeing her again. She is extremely talented! All the ladies in the salon are very friendly as well. The manager was always checking in to make sure we were ok and if I needed a drink or anything. I hold myself to pretty high standards when it comes to professionalism and these ladies know how to do it!!! Thanks Leann!!!

Tried to get a haircut here. They said it was $60. Asked about the $25-30 haircuts. Employee said she was a senior stylist, and had to make money too. Yet, when I look online, plenty of appointments available for $25-30 haircuts.
