Ilka is amazing. My daughter gets such great haircuts here and so much helpful guidance to better take care of her hair. The price is also reasonable and affordable. I cannot recommend this salon loud enough! Go! (We appreciate u Ilka) ☮️ Shannon & Maddie

I was a first time customer and I had the pleasure of getting my hair done by Gabriella. The service was amazing as the stylist constantly made sure I was comfortable. The results had made me more excited for prom. Throughout the process of getting my hair done, Gabriella was an engaging conversation partner who was still able to focus on completing my desired style. I showed Gabriella a few pictures of the hairstyle I wanted and she was able to pull it off beautifully. She even explained how I should take care of the style so it could last throughout the night. The salon as a whole was very accommodating and welcoming. I had an amazing experience because of these factors.

LOVED IT HERE!! I did a long overdue big chop and Ilka did it to perfection. The vibe was great and all of the staff were very friendly. 100% recommended and I have finally found a salon in the st paul area that I will actually go back to.

This place is absolutely amazing! No matter what style I had from Ebony or Ilka, I always received so many compliments. From braids, sew-ins, to wigs, they always made sure I looked my best. -Kristy P.

I had a consultation in which I had call ahead to inform them of my potential delay which they noted was fine. I ended up being on time for my consultation yet I sat and waited 5-10 minutes while the person I was meant to consult with had a conversation right in front of me. Once she acknowledged my presence and we began the consultation in which I asked for a straight sew in I was asked why I didn't want my own hair texture. The consultation was very rushed, she was very short with me and had poor attitude and customer service. Still I booked my appointment despite my gut feeling telling me this wasn't the place for me. At this time I paid a 100$ deposit without an appointment date and I was told the service would be around 200$ and that she would have to order the hair for my sew in. A month and 10 days go by. I called to check on the status of my hair in which I was again met with attitude. I was finally able to set an appointment which was 2 weeks out. They call me 2 days before the appointment is set to take place and inform me that the service would now cost 900$ in total. Very unprofessional, poor communication, poor customer service. At that point I did not trust them anywhere near my hair.

I scheduled a haircut with Get Gorgeous as a brand-new client. As a beauty professional (makeup artist), I have worked with several stylists in the Twin Cities community and have had my hair serviced by some great ones... and I can honestly say that the haircut and client experience Ilka at Get Gorgeous provided was the best cut and experience I have EVER had! I often have a hard time explaining what I want, and even when I show photos, I usually walk a way with cuts that are good but not great. I told Ilka in what I hoped was a clear way the kind of look I was going for, but also told her that she could do what she thought worked best for my hair and face. She gave me a conditioning treatment and then began to cut and style, and used techniques I hadn't seen before but that left my hair with more movement, softness, and shape than it has literally ever had. On top of the best haircut of my life, Ilka was warm, funny, friendly, and professional. The whole salon and the entire staff was incredibly welcoming, and even though it was my very first time, I felt completely comfortable and as though I belonged. I will be recommending Get Gorgeous to everyone, and will be coming back at the first opportunity!

I felt it would be helpful to write an objective, unbiased review of my experience at Get Gorgeous Salon. I saw Ilka and had a wash and blow dry with a trim. I also have natural 4b hair. Let me start off by saying that I appreciated how quickly they were able to see me considering I didn't have an appointment. Also, the ladies there were friendly enough. The wash: I expected this to be the most relaxing part of the experience, but it unfortunately wasn't. The stylist was trying to forcibly comb her fingers through my hair during the shampoo process which was unnecessarily painful. The wash itself was ok (a little on the harsh side), but I think it would have gone a long way if the conditioner had stayed in my hair for longer than 2 minutes. 4/10 The blow dry: I did not enjoy this at all. For those of us with curly/coily textured hair, gentleness is the name of the game, especially since our hair is prone to become more tangled after a wash. I wish the stylist was more patient during the untangling process instead of forcibly running a brush through wet hair. After a few winces, the stylist attempted to change her approach but not by much. 2/10 The cut: This is where the trauma happened. I mentioned that I mostly wear my hair curly - I wish the stylist would have taken that into consideration, cutting only the ends that had damage. Instead, she cut my hair so that it would be "even" while it was straight, which meant much of my hair was unnecessarily cut to satisfy the stylist's goal versus accommodating the way I normally wear my hair. When I came home to "re-curl" it, the amount of length that I had lost was beyond what I was expecting, even accounting for the normal shrinkage when going from straight to curly. 0/10 Final thoughts: The stylist is charismatic and may be great at other services (i.e. silk presses), but I would not trust my crown to her for regular maintenance. I hope this review proves to be helpful to the stylist and honest feedback to prospects, coming from a woman who made the appointment with an open mind and left with a discouraged heart.
