Poor Business Practice - Hair Shedding like a dog! Save your money! I scheduled Bora Bora braids with Kidist and paid a deposit two weeks in advance. When I arrived for my appointment, I informed the stylist that I was there specifically for Kidist. The staff called the owner, Ermi, confirmed, and proceeded to wash my hair and blend my human hair to prep for braiding. Once that was completed, a hairstylist began parting my hair to start braiding. I stopped her because I was there for Kidist. At that point, the owner was called again, and I was finally informed that Kidist was unavailable. I asked Ermi why I was never informed before arriving or before my hair was washed and blended, especially since my deposit was placed specifically for Kidist. He stated that Fenet could do the braids just as well and was trained by Kidist and personally promised that the quality would be the same or I would not be charged the same price. I made it clear that withholding this information until my hair was already started was unacceptable and poor business practice. The finishing work was sloppy. The braids were not properly cleaned, trimmed, or sealed, which I later realized contributed to the issues that followed. Once I got home and washed my hair as I always do to remove excess oils and braiding gel, the human hair began falling out. Entire pieces of human hair were slipping out of the braids, and the amount of shedding was alarming. I contacted the owner immediately and was told to come back so the braids could be fixed. This required returning after already spending more than nine hours at the salon, not including travel time. No refund, reimbursement, or compensation was offered. I still returned to allow them the opportunity to correct the issue. During the follow up visit, three different people worked on my hair. The braids were still not properly cleaned or trimmed, and once again, after returning home, the same issue occurred. Significant shedding continued, with human hair slipping out of the braids. At that point, it was clear that the braiders were not properly trained in Bora Bora braid technique and that the issue could not be corrected. For a price of $425, not including the cost of human hair, this experience was completely unacceptable. The lack of transparency, poor technique, improper finishing, excessive hair loss, and complete lack of accountability make this salon one I would avoid for braiding services. I reached out to the owner again to explain that the issue persisted and to request a refund. He never responded.
Very responsive by text when booking the appointment. The stylist was prompt and on time at 8am. Competitive prices in the area for boho knotless braids. Hair was included, must bring your own if you want human hair. Took about 6.5 hours to complete. No surprise up charges once I got there. I was able to charge and use my laptop throughout. I would definitely recommend.
Had a great experience at Ermi's! I got boho knotless braids, almost waist length for $300. Took 9 hours but my braider was incredibly sweet and gave me exactly what I asked for. The salon is in a great location, walking distance from the metro and surrounded by lots of restaurants and coffee shops.
I think I found my salon 😍 My hair pretty short from this relaxed pixie cut it’s growing out from so I was worried it couldn’t be gripped. But look at me nowww! Boho knotless braids with crisp parts, that are super neat & for the size - didn’t take as long as you’d think. I love it & will definitely be back !! ✅ambiance ✅quality ✅customer service
I’ve been to Ermi’s 4 times between March 2024 and March 2025. After my last experience, I won’t be returning. 1st Visit: I got small knotless, butt-length braids for 300 dollars. I was out in 6 hours, which was great. The parts weren't perfect, but not terrible either. I appreciated that a wash was included and liked the salon's atmosphere. 2nd Visit: Same style, braider, and experience as the first time. 3rd Visit: I got butt-length boho twists for 300 dollars and was in the chair from 8 AM to almost midnight. The appointment was long and draining, I can't lie, but the twists came out beautifully. A shorter, older woman did them. 4th Visit (my last straw): I booked small knotless butt-length box braids and confirmed multiple times I would only come if Kidist could do my hair. I rearranged my schedule for a day I didn’t want to ONLY because I was told she’d be available at 4 PM. I showed up, and she was nowhere near done with her previous client. No warning, no communication, no apology. I’d already paid a 40 dollar deposit and took 30 minutes to get there. The client with Kidist wasn’t done until around 5 or 5:30. Delays happen, but it’s the lack of communication. Don’t tell people 4 PM if you can’t guarantee that time. My experience below is exactly why you shouldn’t just trust anyone there. The appointment lasted from 4:30 PM to 1:30 AM. A different older woman I didn’t know did my hair. The wash was rushed, and the parting was inconsistent. Some squares, others long rectangles. One braid near my edge was so tight and small with a weird rectangular part that a lot of hair in that spot came out within a week and a half. I didn’t take it out immediately because I was waiting to hear back from Ermi about redoing some braids. I should’ve taken it out on day one. That’s on me. The two middle rows, which matter most for them looking fresh, were larger than the surrounding ones. Later, I looked at their TikTok again and saw that a client with "small braids" had six in the middle, twelve total. I had four, eight total. I’ll insert a picture. My hair looked old fast, and I’m one hundred percent sure that was a factor. Sizing isn’t consistent across braiders. Use a parting guide or something? The braids also weren’t braided to the ends, so several unraveled and knotted up. I tried to braid some further down myself, will add pics. I shouldn’t have had to though. She also cut the hair bluntly as she went, which made them look messier. Learn how to add in hair. I saw a TikTok advertising the style for 280 dollars and confirmed over text. But once my hair was already being done, I was told it would be 300. I’ve paid 300 before, but changing the price mid-appointment was unprofessional, especially after I clarified. Twenty dollars isn’t a big deal, but I assumed it was lower due to seasonal demand. And when I paid 300 for my third visit, the braids were way longer. This time they weren’t even braided to the ends. So what was the extra twenty for? A few weeks later, I realized colors 1 and 1B had been randomly used. Some braids were all 1, some 1B, some mixed. I asked for 1B. I will add a picture. At one point, while braiding, she rubbed a thinning spot I’ve had since I was a kid and laughed when I looked up. Maybe it was nerves because she saw me looking, but it felt unprofessional and weird. I messaged Ermi about getting a few braids redone, and he told me to come on Sunday at 5 PM. No asking what time works for me, which I feel is the right thing to do with a customer. I responded. I let him know I had a fever Sunday morning and couldn’t come, and he never responded. Could I have double-texted? Sure. But after that last experience, I was already turned off. And the braids? They looked worn out and grown out before two months. I started throwing on a hat. Like another woman mentioned in her review, my hair was coming out of the braids shortly after getting them. I spent 1,200 dollars at this shop in a year. I really wanted to be a loyal client, which I was becoming. But after this last experience, I won’t be back.
A few weeks later, my braids still look great and I get a lot of compliments. My braider (Nafi) was very gentle with my hair throughout. All the braiders seem very skilled based on the other styles I saw while I was getting mine done.
I did not like the experience, the service was horrible, I did not get the haircut I asked for. They barber over charge me. Close the shop. For haircuts don’t go. GO GET YOUR BRAIDS, no HAIRCUT.
