This is Cassandra Bingham, mother of Rylie Kimball. Rylie was seen in your salon on 10/2/2025 for her initial hair consultation for hair extensions by Keda. She paid a down payment of $646.49 up front and was told "she would pay half now and half later." Rylie had her hair appt. on 10/08/2025 to have the hair extensions installed. Rylie arrived at the salon at 1:45 pm and checked out at 9:46 pm which is the first red flag. It shouldn't take 8 hours to install 2 rows of hair extensions. Looking at Rylie's bill she was charged $300 for Hand Tied-install per row, #3 rows. She was charged $45 for a haircut. The 2nd final bill was $1357.62. The grand total bill was $2,004.11. Rylie asked about the initial down payment of $646.49 which is not reflected on the invoice. Rylie came home for fall break and went to a hair extension professional to have them tightened and was quite surprised at what was found. 1. Rylie does not have 3 rows of extensions. She only has 2 rows. Keda charged $100 a row for very poor stitching. The first 5 inches of the weft on the top row on the left side was unattached and hanging. We have pictures of the entire process to document what was found. The total weight of the hair was only 130 grams. To blend 24 inch extensions with the length and density of Rylie's natural hair would call for approximately 200 grams of extension hair. From the professional recently seen, "This work is what I would expect from someone learning how to install extensions, not a seasoned stylist charging over $2000 dollars. 2. In addition to not enough hair, there was no haircut, layering or blending with scissor work, except for the top row on Rylie's left side, nothing on the right side. No where else was hair cut. We have pictures to show this as well. Rylie was charged for 2 rows of 24 inch extensions and 1 row of 18 inch extensions. Rylie only has 1 row of 24 inch extensions and 1 row of 18 inch extensions. Rylie was charged for a row of 24 inch extensions that do not exist and to install this non-existent row of extensions. She was charged for a haircut which did not take place. ***We contacted the salon via email on 11/24/2025 expecting a response. Nothing, no email or return phone call. We then called the salon 2 weeks later asking for a return phone call from either the owner Susan Renfroe or her team lead as she was out of the salon. No return phone call back. We called back 2 weeks later, assured by the receptionist we would receive a phone call back that day. Nothing. They are clearly avoiding the conversation, unwilling to take any accountability and do not have the decency or respect to return a phone call. Avoid this salon at all cost.
Stylist chewed gum the entire time. She barely spoke to me other than to tell me to go to the sink or go to her chair. When we were doing the consultation I asked for lots of layers and some face framing. Told her I was open to suggestions bc I feel my hair is always flat but unsure how to fix it. No suggestions were given. Still trying to find where she put the layers. The face framing she gave me was awful. I didn't notice at first bc of how she styled it. Roughly an hr ofter my appointment all the styling she had done had fallen out of my hair (and I don't usually have problems with my hair keeping a curl) and I got to see how chopy and blunt the "face framing" was. It doesn't blend at all. Honestly my at home trims look better than what she did. The total was also $20 more than I was quoted online. I understand sometimes things happen in an appointment that can cause the quote to change but some amount of communication or heads up would have been nice. I went to Keda on January 24th at 2pm.
Such an awesome and welcoming salon. I love unplugging and going here. Delia is the literal best. She knows exactly what my hair needs and what I want even when I can't articulate it well. I always feel SO GOOD in her chair and walking out of the salon. Won't catch me going to anyone else. ♥️
Kayla was very welcoming and knowledgeable. I had my first biolage color treatment and a haircut, and she took time to listen to my goals. Together we came up with a plan and she meticulously executed each step with care and precision. She even gave me some tips I haven’t tried for styling my curly hair at home. The end result is perfection! The color looks so natural and my hair hasn’t felt this good in quite some time! I also want to note how refreshing it is to see how well everyone works together and the support among team members at Roots. Beautiful view of River Street was the cherry on top!
I visit Roots for a haircut every time I am visiting Savannah because I always get great service and leave with my hair looking fantastic! I had a blowout done before eloping in August 2023 and my hair held up all day- even being outdoors in the southern heat and humidity. Most recently I got a haircut from Delia, and she was the absolute sweetest! She did a fantastic job with my thick coarse hair and gave some soft curls so my style lasted another 2-3 days after my service. The value and service at Roots is unmatched!
I consulted with Meghan a year ago for hand-tied extensions, ordered them, and had them installed at my next appointment. They’ve held up beautifully with zero issues, and the color matching Meghan did to blend my natural hair with the extensions is incredible. Over the past year, I’ve asked a few times whether I should add more extensions—fully expecting it might cost more—but Meghan always offered thoughtful solutions that didn’t involve spending extra money. She truly puts herself in the client’s chair, pays attention to every detail and every strand, and is also someone I genuinely enjoy spending time with. Fresh extensions were installed yesterday, and once again I walked away feeling confident and uplifted thanks to the great vibes at Roots Southern Salon. Shout-out should also go to Alyssa, Chelsea, and Kayla for jumping in when it’s been needed—there’s a real sense of teamwork here. Book the appointment already… gorgeous hair, great energy, and a beautiful view overlooking River Street included!
I had such a wonderful experience. Everyone was kind and professional and my blow dry was awesome. I could also sit and look at the river all day from the big windows. It will definitely be my go to hairdresser in Savannah.
