I could not be more upset by my experience at Hello Gorgeous. I donate my hair every two years, have for over 20 years now. I am new to Savannah and came here because it was one of the only local salons listed as working with Wigs for Kids. When I first walked in, no one acknowledged me. Three people were sitting around on couches on their phones. I later learned that all of them were employees. One of whom was Dennis, the person who was assigned to cut my hair. After several long, awkward seconds, Dennis eventually got up and brought me back to a chair to get started. It was very clear that Dennis was a new barber. Everyone has to learn and hair grows back, so I don’t mind, didn’t say anything. However. It was also VERY clear that Dennis should NOT be cutting hair on his own yet. On top of this, it was VERY clear to me that none of the other employees seem to like him or trust his work. Joel came over to show him the process for cutting hair for donation, then just did it himself anyway as Dennis watched. Joel also measured the length, argued with me about donation length requirements (something I thoroughly researched before coming in), then cut significantly less than is required. I smiled and kept my mouth shut, but I was incredibly uncomfortable. After the chop, Dennis took me to get shampood. While this was happening, Joel walked by and asked what kind of hair cut we were doing. Something NO ONE had asked ME, the person receiving the haircut. Dennis (again, without asking ME) said, "I was thinking a bob!" …..excuse me? No sir. I told him I wanted to keep it AS LONG AS POSSIBLE following the donation cut and asked if I could please show him pictures of what I was looking for. He said I could show them when we returned to the barber chair. But when this happened and I tried to share the pictures, HE DIDN’T EVEN LOOK AT THEM. Dude. There’s a mirror. I can see where you’re looking. Don’t say "yeah, I can do that." WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING. Then he proceeded to chop. And keep chopping. And keep chopping. My eyes just grew and grew. I made it clear that I was uncomfortable, but the damage was done. Other ladies in the shop were whispering to each other. Joel walked by every now and again with a disapproving look. It became clear that Dennis didn’t know when to stop or what to do, so he kept cutting and then flat ironed my hair. It looked awful, but I kept my mouth shut because I did not want him to try to fix it when it was obvious he didn’t know how to. As I was walking out, Joel took me back to another chair and he began to "texturize" my hair. I will say, he is a much more skilled barber. The damage was done, but he softened it and made the layers fall more evenly. But as he did so, he was talking to the clients around me and not me (he even joked with another client that her cooking killed her ex-husband, something he said multiple times and was not well-received by her and made me extremely uncomfortable). I am too ashamed to even have my picture taken with this cut, let alone post it on the internet. I am honestly considering not going to family Thanksgiving with my in-laws (our first married Thanksgiving, mind you) because I am too embarrassed to be seen with this hair and the length is too weird to style decently. Save yourself the heartache and DO NOT GO HERE.

My daughter needed someone last minute for hair and makeup for prom. Her hair stylist was so amazing. She is a perfectionist making sure every piece was perfect. She made my daughter feel more beautiful than ever. Her hair style was the best we have ever seen and held through the whole night which is unusual because her hair is so thick. She got compliments on her hair and makeup all evening❤❤

Hello Gorgeous is a brilliantly staffed, brilliantly designed salon that makes you feel like a princess the moment you walk in! The staff is professional and so kind. Joel is a wonder with scissors and I always left his chair feeling more confident with my new cut. I've always had a little bit of trepidation when it came to hair cuts, as I have gotten some awful ones in the past, but I felt right at home at Hello Gorgeous. Without a doubt, this is THE salon in Savannah. You won't regret going!

Joel, Dennis and the whole team are excellent. I was referred to this salon from some friends when I first moved to Savannah and I was hesitant to visit because I am a redhead and it's a hard color to get right. Joel found the perfect blend for me and I have been using the same formula for 2 years now. The salon always feels like home when you arrive and the prices for cut and color services are extremely reasonable.
