Shi's Hair Studio

Went for a last minute kids haircut. I wanted to get kiddos hair shortened before a vacation. Everyone was very kind and lovely. I asked for one hair cut and got something way shorter. The cut we got needs to be cleaned up a fair bit. They cut his hair dry. As I watched it seems like she tried to do the haircut I wanted but didn't get it right so it kept getting weirder and shorter. I don't think we will go back. . .

Michelle’s been cutting my son’s hair since he was 2. Great fast cut at a good price. No appointment needed. Usually just stop in during the Farmers market.

After 5 years of being a customer at Shi's hair studio, I was extremely disappointed with the service I recieved last time. I explicitly scheduled an appointment with Shi, but instead was given another hair dresser. I showed the hair dresser a handful of images of the exact style I wanted and we verbally agreed on cutting 1-1.5 inches of hair. She ended up chopping off 3+ inches of my hair and giving me a style completely different from what I had shown. My hair is now so short I cannot even put it up. I would not recommend this hair studio anymore, they did not listen or deliver the hair style that was agreed upon.

I can't recommend this hair studio enough. I've been getting my hair cut by Shi and her colleague Chilan since I moved to San Francisco after college in 2012, and have continued to come back despite moving out of the Richmond district to Chicago and various locations around the Bay Area. Over the years coming here, I've come to consider myself not just a customer of Shi and Chilan, but a good friend as well! They are both consummate professionals and extremely reliable, not to mention warm and friendly on a personal level. We all know how difficult it can be to find a new barber, and I have remained loyal to this place because they know my hair, I always have a pleasant experience and a great hair cut on top of it. I like to tip well because of our relationship but their haircuts are reasonably priced and Shi even started selling succulents during the pandemic too! If you're looking for a new barber, whether you're a parent with young kids or a hesitant early 20s male like me that struggled for a long time to find a reliable option or anywhere in between, give this place a chance! You won't be disappointed.

We love Shi's for kids haircuts. Usually were able to get an appointment if we call day of, they are good at following general ideas or photos for hair length, the kids love watching videos while they get their haircut, and of course there's lollipops.
