Romi did my perm and I’m very happy with the overall experience and results. She was detailed, communicative, and friendly. Great conversation and service. Pics are from about 1 week after the appointment, after the perm settled in a bit.

Note that this review is for bleaching and dying only, and that I’m sure cutting is a different category that might deserve more stars. I bleached and dyed my hair from halfway down. I don’t have thick hair and still, it took 6 hours. It was one lady working on my hair although there usually should be an assistant. My hair was pulled so harshly it hurt a lot throughout, I was holding back tears multiple times, and despite telling my hairdresser multiple times to be more gentle it couldn’t be helped since there is no assistant. The hairdresser probably said sorry about 30 times in the duration and I felt bad for her since she worked so hard. But still, it was very unpleasant. In addition, I did not know that the color I wanted wasn’t available until I was almost done bleaching. After everything was done, the final cost was $450 My suggestion for the hair salon would to be upfront about the time that would take (the original estimate given to me was 4 hours), and to confirm the dye color is available beforehand. Unfortunately, I do not recommend this salon for bleaching and dying hair.

This was my first time here and I had a wonderful experience. Yumiko listened carefully to what I wanted and gave me a cut that was exactly what I had in mind. She was friendly and professional throughout the entire process. I will definitely come back in the future!

I had been wanting to get bangs but I didn’t know where to look. My friend suggested looking for stylists in the bay, and this was one of the highly recommended ones. I had never gone to a salon like this before and wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was a pleasant surprise for me and my friend nonetheless. The staff was immediately very welcoming and friendly. They sat us down and we came to a quick understanding of what styles we were going for. We got our hair shampooed and heads massaged. During the hair cuts I immediately noticed how dedicated the stylists were at paying attention to every trim, and it looked better each time they did something new. At the end I got my hair styled as shown, and was even given another courtesy massage. Will definitely be looking forward to coming here again for a future perm!

I don't usually post reviews but I have to for Mako at Arty Hair! I've been going to Mako for my regular haircuts for several years now. I never had a regular hair stylist until her. Mako always gives me a consistent hair style for my thick, wavy hair just how I like it. Luckily I was seeing her for a haircut a few weeks before my wedding at City Hall and realized I had no idea of what to do with my hair. I asked Mako if she could style my hair and all I can say is, wow. She came up with a hair style that felt true to me and it stayed in place all day. She's already a little hard to book (I'm a last-minute kind of girl) so writing this review poses the risk that she will be even harder to book but I just had to write this glowing review. I'm sure the other stylists at Arty are wonderful too!

didn't want to write this because they refunded me but I have to share my experience if it will help others I went for a root touch up (bleach and tone) for a beige blonde look and walked out with bands of black, orange, and yellow. I spent the next day in another salon where they had to bleach my hair again and now half of my hair is gone and tons of it has snapped off. yes I'm glad they refunded me but my hair has gone through irreversible damage because of the bad experience at arty.

Looks like most reviews here are from women, but Mako did an amazing job with my men’s cut and perm too! I asked for looser waves and she executed to perfection. $160 + tip was quite reasonable for the quality, especially relative to other places. Will definitely be coming back in the future!
