I am so grateful for Black Dagger Hair!! I had been looking for alternative-style salons or barber shops for YEARS and was so bummed there weren't any in San Diego. And then Black Dagger showed up and I couldn't believe it! They are amazing - they are absolutely my style, they are queer and gender affirming, and, even more rare and amazing, they are an incredible safe space for neurodivergent folks like myself. I struggle with haircuts for many reasons, and typically really dread them because I don't usually feel comfortable in the space, or am worried I won't speak up if something looks off, etc. But when I voiced my concerns to Sarah, she took them very seriously and even offered a bit of buffer time for me to process during the session, so I could make sure I ended up with a cut I liked. That was incredible. She set me up with Christina, who is not only a great stylist, but one of the most kind, compassionate, caring folks I've ever had the privilege to meet. When I was going through some particularly difficult times last year, I couldn't imagine getting a haircut but it was so long I was suffering from overstimulation. I finally reached out to Christina, and she went above and beyond to make the session accessible to me, even scheduling me during a quiet time of the day so I could feel more comfortable and secure. And she is so fun and easy to talk to, the time went by so easily and pleasantly, and I finally felt more myself with her cut! The kindness you will find at Black Dagger Hair is truly unmatched, and I feel incredibly fortunate that we have them here in San Diego. I am so very grateful, and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a safe space where you feel like you're part of the community/family.

My stylist Cam always does such a wonderful job with my hair cuts. They listen to what I want and make me feel so pretty. I’ve never been consistent with a stylist before but I have come back to Cam 3 times now and they always nail it! So glad I found them ☺️ and this salon is such a vibe! Fun decor & great music

I hadn’t been to a SALON in over 10 years; i spoke with Rachel and she REALLY HEARD and understood what i was looking for and my specifications! I friggin LOVED my haircut! Even planning on going back for a few extra layers in March! Super welcoming, awesome vibes and Rachel just literally did wonders for my self esteem! Can’t highly recommend this salon enough!!!!

I’ve had my hair cut here 5 times now and I am so happy with my results every time. The salon is always so welcoming and friendly. Last time I went in, I was dealing with some insecurities and body dysmorphia. Cam was my stylist, and after the cut they gave me, I felt so much better about myself! They did a phenomenal job with my hair and I couldn’t have been happier with the results. I felt so cute. I will be coming back again and again 🙂

Probably the best hair cuts I’ve ever gotten as a lady with a pixie cut! I go to Christina on recommendation for short hair and she is amazing! She gets it right every time. They are so accommodating and just nice (they even let me bring my heating pad when I had cramps!). It’s so worth the money!

I never write bad reviews, but this one was necessary. I went to the salon with my hair to my shoulders wanting to get a wolf cut and I came out with an uneven, poorly executed monstrosity that left me with approximately 3 thinned out hairs left on my head. The stylist was very nice but didn’t do what I asked AT ALL and spent *maybe* 20 minutes hacking at my hair before they sent me on my merry way. The next day my friends tried to make me feel better by saying it wasn’t THAT bad for cutting my own hair, and I had to break it to them that I hadn’t in fact sawed off all my hair with a dull pair of kitchen scissors, but actually went to a salon to pay over $100 so I could walk out looking like a knockoff Ziggy Stardust (And not in a cool fun alt way). Dogs in the salon were very cute.
