This was one of the worst salon experiences I’ve ever had. My hair came out completely patchy all over my head — uneven, sloppy work that looks like something a child could have done. When I pointed it out, the owner rudely argued with me and denied it, saying he didn’t see it. The lack of professionalism was shocking. On top of that, my clothes were stained and dirty from the wash bowl, and my daughter’s hair color bled through because they didn’t protect it properly. They even tried to overcharge me for a bleach service they never did — she only got red color, no bleach, yet they attempted to bill me for it. The prices they charged were outrageous considering the result. For "salon professional" work, I left looking worse than when I walked in — and now I have to pay another stylist to fix this mess. What makes this even worse is the owner’s dismissive, argumentative attitude instead of taking accountability. Absolutely unacceptable. I have 40k followers on Instagram and will be sharing this experience there as well so others don’t make the same mistake. Save yourself the stress, money, and embarrassment — do NOT trust your hair here. ******response to the owner******** Thank you for your reply. I want to point out that the salon already has both my phone number and email on file (since you sent me a request for a review after the service), so if making things right was truly the priority, you could have reached out directly instead of asking me to call. Also, I am aware that the salon has been closed since Friday while the staff attends the New York hair show, which makes it impossible to actually speak with anyone right now. Most importantly, my daughter is extremely unhappy and embarrassed to have to go to school with her hair looking like this. It’s very upsetting that a service we paid for not only came out this way but also left her feeling so sad.

This is a wonderful shop with skilled people. It has a great atmosphere. The people are friendly and knowledgeable and listen to what you have to say about your hair. They cut as little or as much as you want. You leave feeling like a new person. The shop is clean. The people are friendly and the work they do is superior. I get lots of compliments every time I get my haircut here. I don’t get my my hair colored or highlighted, but all the people who do always say how wonderful the experience was If you’re looking for a very good experience with stylist, who listen to what you want done and then do it this is the place to go

Edit 2: It has been four days since my appointment, and my scalp is peeling in large patches due to chemical dye not being washed out properly. Edit to add in response to owner: I understood that my prior box dye made this a more complex service, and I was clear that for certain areas (such as my roots) I was okay if the exact shade wasn’t achievable. However, throughout my first appointment I was explicit that I wanted a chocolate brown and did not want orange. The initial result appeared orange and streaky, which is why I requested a correction rather than immediately leaving a review. If the color I requested was truly not possible, it’s unclear how it was successfully achieved during the second visit — the correction itself showed that it was attainable. While I did say I liked my hair in the chair, that was before seeing it in different lighting or noticing the orange and streaky tones I had asked to avoid. I spent several days evaluating the color in different lighting before reaching out privately to request a correction. During the correction appointment, I again experienced double booking, a 30+ minute delay, and improper rinsing, which led to scalp irritation and visible dye residue the next day. To clarify, my frustration is not directed at my stylist personally — she was kind and doing her best while managing multiple clients. The issue lies with the salon’s scheduling and oversight, which repeatedly resulted in delays, rushed handoffs, and impacted service quality. Regardless of whether an appointment is booked through AI or another channel, a customer is still a customer, and this was a $200+ service that required a return visit. Original review: I want to share some honest feedback about my recent experiences. The overall experience (both the results and the process) felt disorganized, frustrating, and unpredictable. The same stylist handled both my original appointment and the color correction. However, when I arrived for the correction appointment, she wasn’t aware that I was coming in specifically for a correction. I later learned that the booking system I had been communicating with is AI-based, which made it difficult to communicate clearly or feel fully understood as a client. During both visits, my stylist was double booked. At my first appointment, the final styling felt rushed because another client was waiting, and I didn’t get a proper chance to fully see or assess my hair before leaving. After seeing my hair in different lighting, it became clear that the color was not what I had asked for & it was very streaky, which is why I had to return for a correction. When I came back for the correction appointment — despite specifically requesting not to be double booked — it happened again, and I had to wait over 30 minutes before we could even get started. While my stylist did correct the color, she was once again pulled away to another client when it came time to wash out the color and style my hair so I could see the final result. Because of this, someone else washed and styled my hair. The wash was not done properly. I later experienced scalp itching, and the next day noticed leftover brown dye residue peeling and flaking out of my hair, which required me to rewash and restyle my hair at home. My frustration is with the lack of consistency and professionalism in both the hair results and the appointment management. Between needing a correction after the first visit and experiencing scalp irritation and dye residue after the second, the experience felt unreliable and stressful. While I appreciate that the color itself was ultimately corrected, this is not an experience I would feel comfortable repeating. I value clear communication, consistency, and knowing that my hair will be properly handled from start to finish without needing repeat visits or fixes.

I don’t normally leave reviews, but Salon de la Vie is exceptional. Angie and Douglas are the owners and are on the floor doing cuts and colors as well as managing an incredible team. When I bring in a picture, Angle walks me through what works and doesn’t work for me, managing my expectations and cutting my hair in the style that I want that is flattering. When I purchased a curling tool that was faulty they replaced it without a hassle. Douglas does an amazing job in color consultations discussing where your color is and the time and products it will take to get your color where you want it to be. He also walks you through what maintenance will look like to help you make the most informed decision. But, beyond that is the fair pricing. They offer, kids, teens and adult cuts at different and appropriate prices. Their pricing also appropriately reflects a stylist’s experience and skill. If you book online you can choose a stylist and see their pricing. Their social media highlights their different stylists and you can visibly see their skills and capabilities. They have their own line of quality products, but don’t pressure or push them them on customers. I have three teen girls who also go to them for curly hair, long hair, color, color-correction, updos and blowouts. I get a short pixie cut. I really appreciate the level of customer service, the transparency in pricing, the quality of service and the customer based business model that Angie and Douglas have created.

I always leave feeling beautiful! The staff is so friendly. All of them. I love my hair stylist, Charlotte. She listens and gives me what I ask for, and maybe even better! And Angie is a doll! Love catching up with her at each visit as well. She really cares about her clients and gets to know them on a personal level. She is always available to offer advice to the talent working to help them improve their techniques.

I came here to get my wedding hair and makeup, and they did a FANTASTIC job! Angie did my hair, and thought I wasn't completely sure what I wanted, somehow she managed to give me just that! Emily did my makeup and I switched what I wanted last minute, and she did an amazing job. They both were very friendly, and the experience was stress-free. I am VERY happy with the work they did; highly recommend. Thank you Salon de la Vie for taking a HUGE piece of the wedding day and making it go so smoothly!
