I love the vibes at Island Design. My stylist is Char. I’ve gotten two retwists with her so far and both times have been great. She’s quick and efficient and my styles have been so nice. Definitely recommend!

I started my locs with Charmayne and have been coming to the shop for almost 2 years now. She does a lovely job with my hair every time and everyone there is always nice! 10/10 recommend for loc services

Long post alert** I am so grateful for Ms. Lorraine. I first went to her in February 2025 for a consultation. She assessed my hair and scalp and was completely honest with me. She explained that my scalp wasn’t healthy, that I had inflammation, bald spots, and thinning—which I already knew because my scalp had been sore for years, and I had worn long extensions almost nonstop for about 10 years. Ms. Lorraine wouldn't start my locs until my scalp was properly evaluated and she wanted approval. She referred me to a trichologist, and as expected, I was told that locs were not recommended at that time. While there, I made the difficult decision to cut my hair completely bald. From that moment on, I focused on healing and taking care of my scalp. Almost a year later, I returned to Ms. Lorraine for a loc extension consultation—and she gave me the Green Light! I was beyond excited. On the day of my appointment, one thing truly stood out. Before she started my hair, she prayed. For those who believe—IYKYK. In that moment, I felt complete peace and knew I was exactly where I was supposed to be......about a week after my hair was complete, I had a mishap (completely on me). I called, and she took me in that same day....... She guarantees her work!!!! Choosing this journey and trusting Ms. Lorraine was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life. 🤍

This was my first time bringing my daughter to this establishment. The receptionist was very pleasant and kind. I sent pictures of my daughter‘s hair currently and the style she was requesting. I was referred to a stylist that I was told would service my child. When I picked up my child, the style looked nothing like the picture. The braids were huge no designs, and the natural curls were not set. The stylist coincidentally was very young of age and wore a lace front which were two red flags for me, but I still decided to proceed. The owner told me that her stylist was incapable of providing that style because she said it herself but she still proceeded to make the attempt!!!! The owner requested that I come back and get it done over. My child was gone for the week. It was an inconvenience for me. I cannot bring my child to go through the experience again. It should’ve been done right the first time at this moment I’m still waiting on a refund. I will never ever come back or suggest anyone go there for a natural hair care if they are hiring stylist who do not wear their hair naturally!! Just because an owner has 20 years experience and hair care does not mean they provide 20 years experience in customer service. She was very unprofessional and inconsiderate.!! Really enjoyed my experience both time I've been there. The staff are warm, timely, courteous, and very professional. The salon is also very cute and has great products. I will definitely be back!

The hair salon is very professional and very kind and courteous. I love the services that they offer and I love that when you book your appointment you also get your hair washed. I love coming to the salon they always do a great job on my hair

The Energy of the environment is wonderful! Ms. Mena & Ms. Lorraine made me feel so comfortable. Ms. Lorraine treated me w/respect, listening to my concerns regarding my natural hair and calmly stated the magickal words...."I can Help you; there's no need to worry"!!! So happy to utilize Island Designs service & might I add the price was good too!!!
