I went home and cried for a long time, and I even had to spend extra money to buy clip-in hair extensions. It has been very emotionally upsetting for me. From the beginning, I clearly told the stylist that I wanted a layered haircut, but I did not want the length to be cut too short. I also showed her reference photos. However, the final result was that a large portion of my hair length was cut off. I understand that layered hair can visually appear shorter, but it should not result in losing that much actual length. On top of that, the layering style itself was not at all what I had asked for or envisioned. What made me even more uncomfortable was that after the haircut, the stylist did not ask me how I wanted my hair to be styled. She simply curled my hair without any consultation. Honestly, the curls did not look good at all—it looked messy and unflattering. I held back my tears and politely asked her to straighten my hair instead. The stylist then said to me, "Is it because you don’t usually wear your hair curly? This style is actually very trendy." At that moment, I was truly speechless. I work in a hair-related industry myself and have a solid understanding of hair and styling. Not liking something and something not looking good are two different things. This was not a matter of me being unaccustomed to the style—it genuinely did not suit me and did not match what I had clearly communicated beforehand. I want to be fair and say that the stylist’s attitude was kind, and the salon environment itself was nice. However, this experience made me feel that there needs to be much more effort in truly listening to clients’ needs. Throughout the entire process, my opinions were not really respected or taken seriously. When I called to make the appointment, I specifically told the front desk that I am a very particular client with high expectations. The front desk informed me that they have $50 and $60 stylists. I deliberately chose the $60 stylist and was told that this stylist was "very good." Unfortunately, the final result was extremely disappointing.

I had my hair cut and colored by Tony and I couldn’t be happier with the results. The total was $150 and it was worth every penny. Tony is professional, patient, and never rushes through the process. He truly exceeded my expectations. If you are looking for a skilled Korean hairstylist in NJ, I highly recommend Tony!

I’ve been coming to the salon for many years and today, our daughter got her damaged hair trimmed by 원장님 and she did an amazing job. Our daughter absolutely loves it. Thank you for the great service!

100% satisfied each time! I've been coming here for a few years now and I've loved how they do my hair every single time. Mainly done haircuts and perms which last me a while — the last time I got my hair done here was over a year ago. I've gotten different hairstyles over the years and Kim's done it beautifully and exactly how I wanted. The service, skill, results are all great and I'll for sure be coming back. Make sure to book an appointment ahead of time since it can get busy especially during weekends.

If you’re looking for a perm, this is the best salon to go to - and you have to go to Jian!!! ⭐️🌟 I have been going to Jian for two years now, and she does a phenomenal job helping me achieve my dream hair style. I get perms with her every three month and she knows exactly how to take care of my hair properly and help me get the curls I like (I also live in Los Angeles, and I always choose to wait and go to Jian for all my hair appointments). She also goes above and beyond in treating her clients with the best experience. She remembers everyone by name and makes sure that they are comfortable. 100/10 recommend Jian at Sumusal!!! 👏👏👏

This was my first and last time coming here. Candice completely disregarded what I had asked for when cutting my hair. During the haircut, she was criticizing my bleached ends, and even called over an older man to touch my hair. When I told her that I asked for her to not cut my bangs, she told me that I did, then doubled down that my bangs were cut incorrectly anyways. She left my hair choppy and at a completely different hairstyle as to what I had requested. I've never cried over a haircut until now. $60 just to get every single thing I asked for her to avoid.
