I have particularly difficult hair: thin and prone to frizz with a cowlick right at the front. It has been generally difficult to find a style or cut suited to me. I’m extremely picky about who cuts my hair/how it is cut due to this, but Takumi has quickly become a reliable stylist (out of only 2!) whom I trust to cut my hair in this lifetime. I came in for a birthday cut months back, after i had grown out my hair for about two years, and I left with the most gorgeous bob I’ve personally ever had. I went in this week wanting a bigger change, a style I’ve always wanted but never had the faith that someone could do right. Takumi cut my hair the shortest it has ever been; he gave me beautiful texture and volume, and even cut bangs that work very well with my hair and cowlick (first time with bangs ever btw). Takumi is extremely diligent and has an eye for even the smallest details. I always bring ref photos and he does an amazing job with personalizing the cut to emulate the inspo whilst working with my hair type. I will be back to HKS and booked with Takumi next time I have an itch for a new style <33

Had the best experience here! Highly recommended. Probably the best haircut I’ve gotten in NY for the value and quality. Mickey was super precise when cutting & blowdrying my hair and gave me an amazing head massage at the shampoo bowl. Can’t say thanks enough. Definitely go see him! Showed him pics of what I wanted and it turned out perfect.

I went there on a friday evening and it wasn't busy due to new years. I've been coming to this place a lot and I've got to say they cut hair pretty well. The experience was great and the ambiance of the place os very rustic and cozy. The haircut overall was nice and clean. I highly recommend coming here.

First time coming to this salon with a friend who frequently gets her haircut by Takumi, & I’m so happy I did! The hair wash & massage was so gently done I almost fell asleep, & Takumi took the time to cut my hair and gave me the long layers I wanted. He even styled my hair at the end! 10/10 would come back!

True Japanese style salon.. transports you to Tokyo. I am so glad that I went here.. Yuki San is true professional and gave me a cut exactly like how I asked for . Looking forward to get my Japanese straightening done soon. I would recommend a visit. They offer cut, color , perming, , Japanese straightening and olaplaex services..

I’ve been getting my haircuts at HKS for over two years now, and the experience has always been fantastic. Recently, I visited for hair coloring and a haircut with Yui. I showed her a picture of the style I wanted, and she nailed it—the color turned out exactly as I had envisioned. The staff are incredibly friendly, and they maintain the salon impeccably clean. Highly recommend!

Very happy with my hair here, styled by Misa. Cut and single process color for my long hair, paid $250. You will never regret. Good price located at the heart of Time Square. Will be coming back.
