WORST Haircut I've ever gotten in my entire life! I dont leave reviews, but I've been dealing with this hack job of a cut for two months and had to get it fixed by another stylist in Baton Rouge. I came to John Jay the day after my wedding to get my hair cut for my honeymoon. I wanted a simple cut, all one length and even showed my stylist, Merlin I think his name was, a sample picture. He didn't listen AT ALL when I told him I didn't like what he was doing and kept saying "Oh it will fall beautifully!". His hands were shaking the entire time he cut my hair and he even continued to insult my hair color and my eyebrows in a very unprofessional manner. I've never felt worse about my hair and had to hide these awfully embarrassing "layers" by pulling it up or curling it when I can. Horrible cut, horrible service, and definitely not worth what I was charged!

First time client and absolutely impressed with how friendly and professional Ally was with me. Loved my manicure and I’m ready for the holidays. Would absolutely recommend!

Beverly totally nails the laid-back surfer dude style that's perfect for the summer vibe. She's super passionate about her craft and always keeps up with the latest trends, even sharing her knowledge by teaching others. Despite being in the game for a long time, she's got this fresh outlook that's pretty rare. Plus, the head massages during shampoo time are so chill, they could probably solve all the world's problems—too bad we can't teleport her around capitols yet!

I was a regular customer and I had been going there to get my hair colored blonde and we were supposed to be going in stages. Leslie Diaz was my hair stylist. Everything was going ok until our last visit when she over processed my hair and left the bleach in my hair for WAY TOO LONG ! To the point that I LOST so much hair! Yes! My HAIR FELL OUT. It broke off. The entire length in the back of my hair fell off about 2 inches, other areas between 3-4 inches on the sides. On top of that, she completely burned my hair, she has ruined my curl pattern. Has created irreversible damage. I will never be able to get my curly hair pattern ever again. It’s nothing but BURNT OUT FRIZZ! Since my hair is curly, I was not able to tell at the moment because she blew out my hair. Curly hair looks longer when it is blow dried straight, so the day that she did my hair, I was not able to tell that there was anything wrong with it. I did not noticed until I washed my hair and I felt it for myself! My hair density felt less and when I tried to crunch the back of my hair to apply gel to my curls, I could feel that my length was much shorter. When I tried to call the manager Candace, she shut me up! Before I could even finish a sentence, she said, "Let me stop you right there…" and went on and on about how my hair looked beautiful from the pictures that Leslie showed her. Instead of giving me a chance or allow me to tell her what Leslie did to me hair. I attempted to call to speak with another manager, and she too blew me off leaving me a voicemail that the matter had been handle and for me to not even bother calling back. So yes, I had really liked going to see Leslie as my hairstylist, but as soon as there was a problem, there was no apology or acceptance of the negligence of her mistake. Even the salón mistreated me and was very rude to me in mishandling this situation. Now, my hair is going to take YEARS TO GROW BACK IF THAT! I deserve an apology and my money back!

I did not have the awesome John Jay experience today at the St. Charles Ave. location. I went in for a highlight retouch, deep condition, cut and style. What I received was just the top of my head highlighted. I asked for complete head of highlights because that's the way I like it for summer. When I asked again for the complete head, the stylist told me I didn't need it. After I insisted, she spot highlighted the rest. I was there for a couple of hours, but was never offered anything to drink in the middle of this summer heat. While I was under the dryer for a deep condition, I called the front desk on my cell phone and asked for some water. There was no consultation about how I wanted my hair cut and styled. I was not asked to change out of my wet cloak and into a dry styling cape. The salon was dirty and I had to clean the purse shelf with a wet towel before I could put my purse on it. When the stylist opened her supply door, there was a pile a hair swept into the bottom of it and it was about a foot high. Gross. The cut was mediocre and I left with no style to my hair. By the way, the receptionist was, for lack of a better word, rude when I called in to make the appointment.

Do you like to be yelled at? Then you talk to Nicole at John Jay. She told me to arrive early because of the " storm " ( light rain). She had to pick up her kids. Was I going to make Beverly ( stylist) drive home alone in the rain? Arrived early. Beverly wanted to know why I was an hour early— " sit down and wait." They refused to take back a product I hadn’t even opened even though Kristin said I could return it. Nicole yelled at me again. Hey, Beverly gave me decent haircut but is anywhere in the world worth this treatment?

This is my goto Salon. I started going there because it was close by, but it's one of the best salons I've ever been to. When I learned that TV anchors used this place to get cleaned up while in town, I was not surprised. The service is very prompt and extremely friendly. You develop a personal relationship with your stylist over time. I use Niki and would recommend her. But all of the people there strike me as top notch.
