This was my second visit. And it was just as amazing as the first. Chissel not only cares about my hair, but about me as a person, and we have the best time chitchatting about shenanigans. But even more importantly, she’s made me feel confident about my hair. When I come in for an appointment, I don’t just get a treatment and a haircut. I get full blown care. I get explanations about the steps that we’re taking. I get tips and tricks on how to make caring for my hair easier. I get comparisons between last time and this time. I have never had an experience with a stylist that wants me to be happy with my hair. I’m never letting her go.

I have been trusting Chissel with my hair styling and hair care since 2019, and I simply refuse to go to anyone else. Before I discovered Chissel, hairdressers told me throughout my life only what they wanted me to hear. As a result, my hair was over-processed, falling out, and in extremely bad shape when I first visited Chissel. Since then and under her care, my hair is growing long and strong, and is in its best shape of my entire life. She helped me to embrace my natural hair with flattering and fun styles, moisturizing treatments, and unique yet safe coloring. In addition to being a stellar stylist and specialist, Chissel maintains a professional salon with a lovely and relaxing ambiance, and with appointment times adhered to. She also believes in talking to you about your hair, so she can educate her clients on how to care for and properly maintain the hair in between visits. This heightened level of communication that Chissel achieves sets her apart from the rest who are average at best. Not only is Chissel a super professional and knowledgeable about ALL styles, textures, and aspects of hair, she is a warm and comforting personality. She is professional, knowledgeable and provides the utmost quality in *healthy* hair care. I'm so glad I discovered her. I recommend her to the *highest* degree. Best in New Orleans because she walks the walk, when others simply talk the talk. If she did it for me, she can do it for you!

My appointment with Chissel was wonderful. She not only met my needs but exceeded them. I knew my curls were damaged but she nourished & nurtured them back to health. Chissel is the best! She made me feel so welcomed on my first visit. Chissel provided a thorough analysis of my hair! She asked the right questions to ensure we were aligned on my overall goal with my curly hair journey. Chissel is a phenomenal professional. Her new space is relaxing and esthetically pleasing. I was greeted with a warm beautiful smile. Received a nice robe and slippers to wear while getting my hair done. Chissel truly cares about her clients hair and ensures it stays healthy despite the many changes I have put my hair through. I trust her to do it right the first time. When I am out of town, I will fly in and get my hair done by her because I had a real bad experience with someone out of town that burned my hair. I’ve been going to Chissel for over 2 years now and she has been incredible. I HIGHLY recommend her. When I came to her, my hair was an absolute mess. I have very curly hair, and before Chissel I had never found a stylist who knew how to properly care for and style curly hair. Chissel is a true specialist. She will take the time to understand what you’d like for your hair and work together with you to meet your goals. She also respects clients who are tender headed and don’t necessarily enjoy getting their hair done. She’s gentle and patient. From our hair relationship, we have become friends and she is a cherished addition to my life. Her salon is also a BIPOC and LGBTQ+ safe space.

Last year I moved to New Orleans and was looking for a local hair stylist. Chissel came HIGHLY recommended from my hairstylist in Austin, TX, and in fact was the ONLY person she recommended. It turned out that my previous stylist's mentor was trained by Chissel! My Austin stylist (Micky from Swoon salon) truly was an amazing artist and when I got Chissel's information I immediately made an appointment with her. A year later she is still my stylist, and will always be my stylist! 🙂 Not only does she have the experience and knowledge to do amazing work as the artist that she is, her compassion and dedication to quality is unparalleled. She make you feel special, she listens to you, and above all her energy makes you feel accepted just as you are. That is reflected in her work. She takes your natural curls to another level! Chissel has the gift to show you that you are beautiful already, she just emphasizes whats already there. I know this review sounds all woo-woo, but for us out there that were shamed, embarrassed, made to feel less than, etc because of how different our hair was-her talent shows how different and worthy we have ALWAYS been. My hair has never been healthier. Chissel tailors every appointment to you. She never rushes, is distracted, or makes you feel less than in your appointment. I constantly get compliments from family, friends, co-workers, and strangers on the street on how they admire my hair. In fact, I went today to redo my highlights (almost 4 months grow out) and it honestly did not look like I needed it. She makes highlights look amazingly natural-especially as they grow out. So in short, I absolutely HIGHLY recommend Chissel for all hair types. She not only is an expert with natural hair, she does all textures.
