Joe listened to what I wanted and answered all my questions. He asked questions as well, to get a feel for my hair routine. I have long curly hair and have had a hard time finding someone who "knows" curly hair. Glad I found Joe - I really like my cut!

I was looking for a new stylist for my curly hair and Joe had all 5 star reviews for curly cuts. Joe is wonderful, I'm so glad I found him! He fixed my haircut which was kind of a disaster and told me how to get my hair healthier. I'm very happy with my hair and receiving tons of compliments!!! 🥰

Joe is always professional, he takes his craft very seriously. He works on color with precision and he wants to make sure you get exactly what you want on the photo reference. He has very sweet and caring personality. He works really hard and makes sure his clients are taken cared of!

I saw Joe a couple weeks ago and wanted to see how my hair did before reviewing. I went in wanting a full cut but after discussing my type of hair with Joe, we realized my hair would not do well with the haircut I envisioned. Instead, Joe listened to what I didn’t like about my current hairstyle and made minor adjustments (basically taking out the puffiness). He also told me how to take care of my hair using simple tweaks to my routine and recommended simple products. My wavy/curly hair is less frizzy and looks great with minimal styling product added. All his tips and tricks really worked and I’m grateful. I will continue to see him as I needed someone who knows my hair type and that can give real advice.

I came in for a partial highlight and root touch-up to blend my grays. Instead, I left with patchy, very brassy, uneven color, very damaged hair and scalp irritation that is far from what I booked (see photos). Joe deviated from standard industry practices - insisting that he wash my 3 day old hair at time of appointment alleging color wouldn't take on a scalp with natural oils. With all prior hairdressers, I always came in with 3 day old natural hair and there was NEVER an issue. He then bleached my entire root hair using a SHOWER cap versus foils, and I had to process for 30 minutes with no heat. When he rinsed my hair and dried it, it was brassy and patchy so he processed my hair AGAIN!!! Another 30 minutes with bleach RIGHT ON MY SCALP under a shower cap! After I told him that I've never had highlights done this way, but with foils, he then admitted that he thought I had all over color because he couldn't see dimension. What!?!?! My mid shaft and ends had dimension from all the years of highlights! Then he said "I didn't have time for foils anyway." But I booked a partial highlight and root touch-up online of which he accepted! None of what he did aligned with standard salon practice, and then my consultation and unnecessary wash used up so much time that my highlights were never done. The end result has caused me so much distress as it happened right before a birthday trip my husband had planned to the Mayan Riviera. My hair required corrective color and Olaplex professional hair treatments at my own expense. When I raised my concerns, I was not offered a professional solution. Extremely disappointed and will definitely not be returning. When I had corrective work done, that hairdresser was shaking her head as to the extremely horrible job JoeStylist performed on my hair that she kept saying, "I don't even know why he deviated so much from standard practice..." My side by side before and after is so miraculous that I can't stress enough the importance of finding a competent hair dresser that actually cares about the client experience. I did not have to go through this much stress but want to warn others. This was my very first experience with JoeStylist and what a huge regret it was. But I praise my new talented hairdresser for correcting JoeStylist's awful job and bringing joy back to my life.

My experience at JoeSalon was wonderful. Joe took the time to discuss the style/cut I was looking for, how it would or wouldn’t work with my hair texture, face shape, and or daily routine. We found a hairstyle that would work best for me, the cut matches what we discussed, and looks great! Joe was kind and easy to talk to. I’m looking forward to my next visit and having a stylist I can trust with my hair!

We moved to McKinney about 6 months ago and I was on the search for a new stylist that understood natural curly with stuburn grey hair. So happy to find Joe. He is a true hair historian. He takes the time to understand your needs and your specific hair. Highly recommend!
