Kendalls Hair Salon

The salon is in a good location off Richmond Rd. It is nice enough on the inside, but do not expect a spa atmosphere. I was not offered a drink, but I asked for one. He brought me a glass of cold water in a mug that appeared to be quite old. This is not the type of place that you will get free samples, or wine or cola. The owner, Kendall, did 3 heads of hair at once. I got a haircut and color for $188. I have pretty short, dark hair, it took almost 3 hours as he shuffled us around like a deck of cards. I have been here 3 times. This was my last. I was not asked what I thought of the haircut, I did not like it. In fact, the last time I was there -I did not like any of the cuts I saw. The owner, Kendall is about 50 and needs to update his skills. He does a lot of men's hair and older women-they all come out looking their age. I too was given a smock out of the bathroom that someone else used. There was hair around and generally dusty and slightly unkept. Also, he does not work night s, Mondays or weekends. I would suggest any other salon, he is nice but the whole place needs to enter the century. I am 38 and looked 50 after I left. Shop around and you will find better. Cate

I love Kendall's! I have always thought that my hair is "tricky" to get it to be the way that I really want it to look. I've been to dozens of places in Lexington only to walk away a little dissapointed. The first time I went to see Kendall, he spent time with me discussing exactly what I was wanting and instantly made me realize that this was the place I'd been looking for. Quality everytime, Kendall is the best!

I had an appointment to see the big guy himself yesterday. First off, I have to say that everyone was very friendly, especially the girl working at the front desk. However, I was unimpressed with the stylist's cleanliness practices- he just used his hand to wipe the hair off the seat before I sat down, and had a pile of what looked like used smocks in a chair that he pulled out and put on me. I was in the salon for a total of 20 minutes- minus time for shampooing, and blowdrying with a cheap round brush, that means he spent all of 5 MINUTES actually cutting my hair! He never got a mirror to let me see the cut, but briskly escorted me to the front desk where I was charged $60 - I almost choked, especially since I had been quoted $39 over the phone. But fair enough, I should have double checked before getting the cut. When I got home, though, I discovered that my hair really did look like a 5-minute cut- what was supposed to be an angled bob is now longer in the back than the front, shorter on one side than the other, and has harsh lines where the layers were not blended. When I went back for a refund, I didn't get an apology, from the stylist, only "I should have communicated that to you". I'm not sure what that means. The girl at the front desk was very gracious though, and they were kind enough to give me a 50% refund. Perhaps the stylist had been in a rush yesterday, but if that was the case, he should have rescheduled my appointment for a time that he could have actually been careful with my hair. I do not recommend this salon.

I have been a customer of Kendall's for over twenty years. I consider him one of the best in town when it comes to coloring haris..I have used every service he has provided over the years and have found them all to be very satisfactory. I have and would recommend his services.

Best place to get a GREST haircut. Wonderful personality and very easy to get in. A MUST TRY!
