Ultimate Hair Spot

Came in for a simple layered hair cut. Since I have very fine and thinning hair I’m afraid to do anything else to it but with Mel’s advice I ended up with this beautiful highlights!! 😍 totally love it!! Definitely recommend this place!!! Wow!! I woke up this morning and booked a session with Mel. Actually I booked a consultation. I knew I wanted a perm and after reading reviews, I kept coming back to Ultimate Hair Spot’s page and decided this was the place. Mel is an awesome human being 💯. Within minutes of walking in, I was seated, we had talked about what I wanted, and we were chatting away. I love new haircuts, so getting my first perm was a big deal, but I knew I was good hands. I spent almost 2 hours in various chairs inside the shop, and there was never a dull moment. We chatted about life, music, hair, hobbies. I really appreciated his professionalism and how relaxing the shop was. I’ll be going back to see Mel in the future for sure

Mel did a great job with my haircut and highlights. I was not very sure what I wanted and he helped guide me to a very cute look. He made sure I was okay with the next steps before he did anything. Will definitely be coming back 🙂

The worst costumer service ever. I scheduled an appointment online and he canceled it after some minutes. Than I called and talk to him, he just make excuses that he doesn’t open up till 10 am in the morning which clearly on the website you can check that it is available from 9 am - 6 pm. Second anytime I asked if he is available he just said booked, or he said that he goes to school in the evening, which I knew he was lying about as on the booking website you could check the days that are available. Then I got real with him and asked so you don’t want to give me a haircut he just baffled and said have a good day. Sir kindly if you don’t want to give me a haircut just tell me so neither of us waste our time. There are tens of barber shops in Kalamazoo/Portage.

My mom recommended Mel and we visited the salon together a few days ago. I watched Mel work his magic on my mom’s long, thick, naturally grey hair, making it shine and lay beautifully. Then he cut my fine, thin hair into a bob that maximizes volume. He is a sorcerer with the scissors and his round brush!

Really love everything he did to my hair! He’s very professional and nice definitely worth it! Will be coming back one of the best I’ve been to so far!
